A huge thank you to Rick Braun and his fans for raising $3,051 for Meristem during a recent fundraiser hosted on Rick's YouTube channel #rickscafelive. In addition, Rick coordinated with his friends at Sweetwater to gift us with an entire PA system, complete with eight mics, cabling, mixing board, powered speakers and speaker stands. Our students will be ROCKING OUT very soon! And speaking of rocking out, check out an episode of Rick's Cafe Live -- the "Tailgate Party" includes footage of Emma and Meristem friends enjoying our music room. Take one healthy recipe, add organic ingredients and gentle instruction, a sprinkle of confidence and a dash of pride and you've got the MOST delicious results! Brimming with joy, students presented what they cooked last week. After enjoying their food, they take their recipe back to their dorm (or back home) where they can practice making it again for friends and family. Way to go students!

Continuing a project that started over a year ago is a true exploration of time and process that takes patience. Third year student Hraagh stands proud with his unfinished replica Geirskögul a lance from the game, Fire Emblem Heroes. Hraagh started this lance last year in wood work and estimates it’ll be done by the end of this school year before he graduates. Now that’s dedication to a project! Nice work!

Breaking News! Third year Meristem student, Midhun, has secured a full-time position as an Office Assistant for the State of California Employment Development Department (EDD). In this role, he will be supporting office functions, ensuring the EDD is there for those in need. Previously, Midhun worked part-time at local car wash, Waterfly. We celebrate Midhun's perseverance and congratulate him on his new full time job with the EDD. Landmark moments happen every day at Meristem, but they're often quiet and not always visible. Today, Meristem student Jack shocked his family by bravely conquering his fear of sharp objects and shaving his face on his own. He greeted his mother during a visit today with a smooth face that he groomed without any support. It brought tears to her eyes and she enthusiastically shared this milestone moment and picture with us. We are grateful to support students like Jack and witness the moments when they spread their wings and try something new. Congratulations Jack! Looking good!
