Welcome Home, Death Rattlers Marines with VMFA-323 return home after a 10-month deployment to the Middle East, the last F/A-18 carrier deployment in Marine Corps history. Following this homecoming, VMFA-323 will transition to employ the F-35 Lightning II.

Winter is Ending An F-35B Lightning II with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 122, Marine Aircraft Group 13, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW), taxis upon landing during the conclusion of phase two of exercise Winter Fury at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona, Feb. 18, 2021. During Winter Fury, 3rd MAW conducted long-range strikes, deployed and supported infantry Marines, assisted in the transportation of artillery assets, and provided logistical support to Marines on the ground.

In spring 2022, VMA-311 will reactivate as Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 311 operating the F-35C Lightning II at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. Similarly, VMA-214 will begin flying the F-35B as VMFA-214 at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma.

Take by Storm CH-53E Super Stallions with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadrons 361, 465 and 466 take off from the flightline during a mass flight. 3rd MAW sets the standard for operational excellence and continues to pave the road for the rest of the Marine Corps.
