"Like so many of us up here, I like to live the active Tahoe lifestyle to its fullest, and my body has certainly paid the price. I’ve had numerous orthoscopic s...urgeries at Tahoe Forest hospital, fixing cartilage, a dislocated patella, ruptured achilles, and the list goes on always something different. Every single time, they were able to put me back together again and get me back in action.In the Fall of last year, I went in for surgery number 7 or 8 (I have a hard time keeping track) but this one was different. Until then, everything had been out-patient, home within hours of getting there, and generally simple and routine. But after decades of that, it was literally time to rebuild my left leg. Walking was painful, and my leg was so out of alignment that it was banging on my bike frame. Dr. Dodd (who knows my knees better than I do) recommended a Femoral Osteotomy. The name of the procedure alone was a bit terrifying, let alone that they recommended an overnight stay for pain management. No simple scope, no crutching home a few hours later. For being such a veteran of the surgery world, I was honestly pretty terrified.I cannot say enough about how amazing the staff was throughout the entire process. All of the nurses and staff were so positive and encouraging, making sure I had everything possible to make me comfortable. The overnight hospitality was incredible, and Dr. Dodd was there first thing in the morning to check on me personally and make sure I was feeling OK. When it was time to go home, they even included my daughter in the physical therapy checkout process to make her feel included and important (which by the way she was!).It’s just over a year later, and I am back running and biking on the trails, and eager to get on my board this winter. Once again, the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff at our hospital came through for me and got me back to my Tahoe lifestyle. What an amazing gift to our community."
