According to Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority's pre-pandemic homeless count, within LA city, the number of people experiencing homelessness is 41,290, a ...14.2% increase over last year. The numbers keep rising despite organizations housing and helping more people last year than any other year. The problem is inflow. "We know that since the onset of the pandemic, the country's super-rich have gotten richer," said Roy, UCLA professor and founding director of its Luskin Institute on Inequality and Democracy. "I think that unless we are willing to tackle this fundamental question of inequality, it's very difficult to tackle what is now a massive crisis of eviction and houselessness, and one that threatens to get much worse." We currently have an opening for a full time, Program Coordinator position in our Social Services Department at the Cardinal Manning Center (CMC). The Cardinal Manning Center is a 65-bed homeless shelter for men and operates a Drop-In Center serving people in need. The CMC is located in the skid row section of downtown Los Angeles. We feel extremely fortunate to be able to welcome our customers back to our thrift stores in Los Angeles and Long Beach on Monday, June 1, 2020. Drop-off donati...ons and pickups will also resume that day.
