Today was a BIG day for our seniors! We teamed up with our friends at St. Paul's PACE San Diego to provide #COVID19Vaccines to 70 seniors at our Potiker Family Senior Residence. Seniors were so grateful to receive the vaccine as many of them don't have access to a car or computer and were worried about their ability to receive it.... Thank YOU St. Paul PACE for making today possible. It was an amazing day of community! #InThisTogether #ThankfulThursday

"I'm a bit emotional. I've been dealing with so many different stressors. At age 77, Diane has been faced with one of the most challenging years of her life. Diane has been living at Serving Seniors’ Potiker Family Senior Residence for almost four years. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, she spent much of her time at our Senior Wellness Center socializing with friends and participating in the classes and activities onsite. That quickly changed with the onset of COVID-19. Since M...arch of last year, human interaction and face-to-face connection has been nearly non-existent in her everyday life. Of San Diego’s homeless seniors, 43% are experiencing homelessness for the first time in their lives. The upcoming election is an excellent time for candidates to share their personal vision of a better future for San Diego’s low-income seniors. See what #SanDiego City Council District 3 Candidates Toni Duran for City Council 2020 and Stephen Whitburn for San Diego City Council had to say: https://servingseniors.org//2020-district-3-candidates.html
Senior #homelessness is on the rise across the nation. With the election around the corner, it is critical that local candidates have a plan for senior homelessness in #SanDiego. Our Serving Seniors team connected with City of San Diego Mayoral Candidates Todd Gloria and Barbara Bry for Mayor to address this rising concern.
