One of those things that really matter is the liberation ...of Palestine from settler-colonial forces. Here's a look back at just a couple months ago. Free Palestine! On Sunday, May 23 Palestinian Youth Movement hosted a San Diego: Rise Up for Palestine! action in solidarity with the Palestinian resistance to settler-colonial Zionist occupation and genocide. Around 500 people met outside the County Administration Building and marched around Downtown SD to demand the U.S. government end all aid to apartheid Israel. The struggle continues until Palestine is free, from the river to the sea! #FreeGaza #DefendPalestine

The Department of Defense stated in a press release yesterday that the strikes targeted operational storage facilities at two locations in Syria and one locati...on in Iraq. The DoD claimed these facilities were used by militia groups like Kata’ib Hezbollah and Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada, which are being thoroughly demonized in the U.S. media as dangerous terrorist organizations. But this narrative completely overlooks the fact that these groups and their allies were crucial to the defeat of ISIS’s so-called caliphate in the region, a victory that came at the cost of thousands of fighters’ lives. While they may have worked alongside Iranians during this battle, their members are Iraqis and Syrians who have their own motivation to fight. On June 26, around 50 community members gathered at Chicano Park in San Diego’s Barrio Logan neighborhood to demand freedom for Native political prisoner Leonar...d Peltier and express support for Indigenous resistance in Minnesota and beyond. Donning placards with the phrases Free Leonard Peltier! 45 years too long! and Peltier: Victim of U.S. government and FBI persecution, supporters listened as an array of community organizers spoke out against the injustices committed against Native Americans and about the urgent need for Leonard’s freedom as his health deteriorates. The event was organized by the Party for Socialism and Liberation and Answer San Diego. It was endorsed by the Chicano Park Steering Committee, Unión del Barrio, Anakbayan San Diego, American Friends Service Committee, Umojasd333, Peace and Freedom Party San Diego, and more. The Colectiva Tejiéndonos Mujeres organizes women and the community inside the 5th of March socialist commune in Caracas, Venezuela! They educate women and girl...s on gender-based violence, reproductive health, and provide cultural activities for youth. U.S. sanctions on Venezuela make it extremely difficult to afford medicine, menstrual products, concraceptives, and other necessities which disproportionately affects women and girls. Unión del Barrio would like to thank the Party for Socialism and Liberation @pslsandiego for inviting us to express our solidarity with compañero Leonard Peltie...r and our indigenous sisters and brothers that continue with the struggle for native liberation in Minnesota. Leonard is not in prison due to the charges that were brought by the State to convict him. He is locked up for actively protecting and defending indigenous rights and self-determination in tribal land Pine Ridge. The fact that he has stayed true to his principles and has never sold out to the system is the reason that he is kept locked up, and the conditions of the Prison System is the reason he is in the health crisis he faces today as he’s been behind bars for 45 years. Union del Barrio and the Chicano Mexicano Prison Project raise our voices with so many others to demand the immediate release of Leonard Peliter and that native sovereignty be respected. ¡Venceremos!

Hello friends, We're off to a good start. A big thank you to all of the friends and comrades who have already pitched in to ring in a great second year of the San Diego Justice Center! We are so happy to have been able to provide a space to so many local groups for important meetings and wonderful events for great causes. We look forward to being able to do so even more this next year and hopefully to be able to expand the capacity to do so, as well as the resources available... to community groups who utilize the Justice Center.
