As some of you may know from last week's health officer order, we have been denied reopening again. I have been working with officials at the health department for the last 2 weeks reviewing our reopening strategies and protocols, and was assured that we would be included in last week's announcement. We were included, but as a "not allowed to reopen". Again, they singled out Climbing Gyms and chose to not include us as a fitness facility or gym. The next round of reopening is in two weeks, whether or not we are included will depend how the situation develops. We will keep you updated as we know more

It come with sadness and frustration that SBRG will not be allowed to reopen at this time. We have been working tireless to get the gym cleaned and ready for you. Our expectation was that we would be allowed to reopen on Friday, with all the other gyms and fitness facilities. However, climbing gyms have ben excluded and are not allowed to resume business. We will continue to monitor the changes as they happen. Hopefully we can get the green-light soon. The gym is ready and waiting for you!

COVID-19 Update - With the recent announcement of the coming of Stage 3 re-opening we are working out the details of how to best meet the mandated requirements for businesses like ours. We have put together a plan to ensure SBRG can move forward once the green light is given. We are currently in the process of resetting the entire gym, ensuring clean holds and thinning out the climbing routes to allow more personal space. Our next step will be to thoroughly clean and repain...t portions of the gym. Employees will be trained on all recommendations issued by the Public Health Department for dealing with customers under new restrictions, managing their personal health, facility sanitation requirements and monitoring of the facility. Masks will be worn by all staff and required of our patrons. Our current plan is to have a reservation system of 2 hour blocks to support reduced occupancy requirements and allow staff to carry out necessary sanitizing procedures between blocks. Reservation system will be up on our website soon Stay tuned for more updates as events unfold. We look forward to re-opening our doors and getting to climb with you all.

Happy Memorial Day - We hope you all are staying safe, healthy and climb-ready. Remember if you climb during the coronavirus pandemic // We all must do our part to protect public health and prevent the spread of Covid-19. While we're still safer at home, please follow these easy moves if you plan to go out and climb. Chill out... -Consider not climbing at all. Climbing isn't great for social distancing, and it's not the most sanitary pursued. We shared gear, belay areas, and narrow trails. Minimize everything -Stay close to home be respectful of vulnerable gateway communities. -Limit your group size to just you and your partner. -Try to avoid busy crags and peak times. Protect health and safety -Maintain social distancing. -Wash your hands before and after climbing. -Use hand sanitizer or wipes while out climbing. -Bring a wag bag. -Strongly consider wearing a mask, especially when others are in close proximity. -Dial it back a notch for the sake of our search and rescue teams. Be prepared -Follow all federal, state, county and city guidelines. -Do your research ahead of time. -Follow the lead of your local climbing organization and land managers. -Make sure the crag you want to visit is open and learn the rules. -If your first choice is too crowded, bail and go somewhere else. Hello SBRG Climbers! Its been a few weeks since our last update, so I wanted to to let everyone know our current status. As you know, Santa Barbara has moved into Phase 2B of opening. This new phase does not yet give us the ability to reopen the gym, but as we move in that direction, we are working on our plan for reopening and how the gym will operate moving forward. ...
