On behalf of Windsor Bowling Center, Cal Skate, Double Decker Lanes, Reed Between the Lines Escape Room, Fundemonium, Rebounderz Adventure Park, Buffalo Bills B...illiards, Dog House Billiards, and Epicenter Sports and Entertainment, we’d like to thank you for supporting us and for helping create the diverse business environment that existed in Sonoma County until March of this year. We are now asking for your help to save these businesses. Otherwise, we won’t see a future in Sonoma County that has this wide range of options for recreation and fitness for ourselves and our families. Many of you are not quite ready to come back to see us, and we respect and appreciate your views on what is best for your own family. However, once we are given the opportunity prove to you that our reopening policies will provide a very high level of safety, we know that a whole lot of you will be very ready and excited to bring your families back to have a great time. We are experts in our respective businesses and industries, and we have spent a lot of time and effort crafting exceptional safety plans. We are confident that we can provide you the extraordinary fun and fitness that our businesses are known for while strictly enforcing safety protocols that keep everyone safe. Unfortunately, under the color-coded system announced by the state, our businesses will NOT be allowed to reopen in the Red tier, while almost every other kind of business will be open in Sonoma County at that time (including big box stores, movie theaters, cannabis businesses, malls, casinos, indoor museums, tattoo and piercing studios, and almost all in-person retail). We are making as much noise as we can to try to see equity inserted into the state’s color-coded reopening matrix, but our voices alone can’t affect the change we need. We are asking each of you to support us in these efforts in the hopes that our elected leaders will listen to the voice of the people and treat our businesses fairly and equitably. We need to bring the fun and fitness of our businesses back into the lives of our Sonoma County community. We respectfully and humbly ask that you write an email or call any or all the public officials listed below and let them know that you would like to see our businesses reopened in the RED tier. You can use some of the Not So Fun Facts at the end of this email for ammunition if you’d like. Press Democrat Letters to the Editor [email protected] Susan Gorin - County Supervisor [email protected] 707-565-2241 David Rabbitt - County Supervisor [email protected] 707-565-2241 Shirlee Zane - County Supervisor [email protected] 707-565-2241 James Gore - County Supervisor [email protected] 707-565-2241 Lynda Hopkins - County Supervisor [email protected] 707-565-2241 Mike McGuire - State Senator [email protected] 707-576-2771 Jim Wood State - Assembly https://a02.asmdc.org/ 707-576-2526 Cecilia Aguiar-Curry - State Assembly https://a04.asmdc.org/ 707-224-0440 Bill Dodd - State Senator https://sd03.senate.ca.gov/contact 707-576-2093 Governor Newsom - Governor of CA https://govapps.gov.ca.gov/gov40mail/ Not So Fun Facts Each of our businesses have rock-solid safety plans that make us very confident in our ability to operate our businesses so they are even safer than other businesses that are already open in Sonoma County When Sonoma County finally joins almost every other county in the state by moving to at least the Red reopening tier, all of the following types of businesses will be allowed to operate in Sonoma County indoors: casinos, shopping malls, body waxing studios, churches, big box stores, virtually all retail stores, museums, tattoo parlors, piercing studios, and many more. o What will NOT be allowed to reopen in Sonoma County? Skating rinks, bowling facilities, family entertainment centers, trampoline parks, youth sports, adult sports, and similar family-oriented businesses. These businesses should be moved to the Red tier of reopenings, simply because it makes sense to allow them to reopen when their peer businesses are allowed to be open. Families from Sonoma County are traveling outside of Sonoma County (and sometimes even out of California) in order to find family recreation due to our local family recreation being shut down. The continued shutdown of our businesses has created perverse incentives for people that is harming the Covid mitigation effort. If our family-friendly businesses aren’t allowed to reopen soon, there’s a very good chance that some or all of them will be forced to permanently close. Imagine raising a family in Sonoma County without these kinds of local businesses. Our businesses employ roughly 500 people in Sonoma County. Losing those jobs would be devastating. Dr. Mase was quoted in the Press Democrat noting that there was little evidence that malls and hair cutting businesses were the source of cases in Sonoma County, and therefore they should be opened. None of our businesses have been identified as a source of cases in Sonoma County, and we believe that this should compel Dr. Mase to speak on behalf of our reopenings as well. Social distancing is easier and more commonly practiced in our businesses than in your typical retail business we have a lot of space! Our businesses provide recreation and exercise that creates healthy people and healthy communities. People need to have fun with their families and need this exercise for their emotional and physical wellness. Thank you for listening to our concerns and we would greatly appreciate your support in these incredibly challenging times.
