Huge shootout and big thanks to Oceana Market in Eureka Square for feeding your Pacifica Firefighters on this Thanksgiving day. Your act of kindness every year makes it a bit easier for all the firefighters working at Station 71 and Station 72 today away from their loved ones. Stay safe and be thankful during these strange times!
More from today’s rescue.
Today Pacifica Firefighters from E72 and E71, along with Battalion 120 responded to the area of highway 1 and Fassler for a person who had a fall from a bicycle. The patient was on one of the many challenging mountain bike tracks in the hills of Pacifica quite a ways off the main road. After hiking up to the patient with their equipment and realizing the challenges of getting the patient down safely, the firefighters chose to utilize a helicopter to pick off the patient and lower them down to a landing zone where the ambulance was waiting. The patient was transported to the hospital for minor injuries. Thanks to CHP Golden Gate Division and H30 for assisting with the rescue
After another 14 days on the fire line, another crew is coming home and another crew is tagging in. Pacifica Fire’s @cal_oes engine 402 has been out fighting fires for 44 of the last 50 days. This crew spent a week at the #creekfire in the Sierra National Forest and another week at the #glassfire in Sonoma and Napa Counties. They are happy to be going home to their families and loved ones but know that the fire season is not over yet. We’d also like to take a moment to remember all those firefighters who gave the ultimate sacrifice and are no longer with us today on #nationalfallenfirefightersmemorial day. @bayareafirefighter @dalycityfirefighters_l2400 @brisbane_firefighter @sanmateoconso #ncfa #wildlandseason #coastalcowboys
https://abc7news.com/crews-rescue-man-from-thornton-beac// Yesterday, your Pacifica Firefighters, along with Daly City Firefighters, and CHP, helped extricate a patient after he was initially stuck on a cliffside at Thornton State Beach and then subsequently fell into a crevice just above the beach. The man was airlifted to a Landing Zone and trasnported to a local trauma hospital with serious injuries. Great work to all crews involved. #CoastalCowboys
After 14 days on the Creek Fire, four of your Pacifica Firefighters return home, and a new crew will take their place and continue to battle the wildfires that have ravaged the state of California this Summer. The department’s OES wildland engine has been out 30 of the last 36 days with no end in sight.
Fire in the skies...
Your Pacifica Firefighters, along with many other firefighters around the state, have been dispatched to the Creek Fire burning out of control near Fresno since Saturday. At last reporting, the fire was 78,000 acres with zero containment.
This morning at shift change, your Pacifica Firefighters got called out to Grey Whale Cove for reports of a vehicle over the side of the cliff. Working in conjunction with Coastside Fire, rescuers rigged a rope system and repelled down to find a patient suffering serious trauma at the base of the cliffs. The patient was packaged and raised up to the Highway and transported to the closest trauma facility, but did not survive.

Your Pacifica firefighters, along with strike team 2801A (North County Fire Authority, Daly City, Brisbane, San Mateo, San Francisco) head home today after a week out at the Hog Fire (Susanville, CA) and Adams Fire (Doyle, CA). As Fire season ramps up, please be mindful of Spare the Air days and proper camp fire rules and restrictions.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Captain David Lutz and his brothers and sisters at Cal Fire
Today, on a medical aid on the beach in Daly City, your Pacifica firefighters, along with Daly City firefighters, got a unique escort in the Emergency Response Vehicle to load up a patient with minor injuries and get them safely to an awaiting ambulance. #CoastalCowboys
Today, on one of the many bike trails around Pacifica, your Pacifica Firefighters responded to a call for a bicyclist down with multiple broken bones. Although the trail was at times steep, narrow, and uneven, firefighters were able to rescue the patient and them to a waiting ambulance thanks to the department’s Emergency Response Vehicle and the precision driving of FIrefighter Engineer Ferreira.
Thoughts and prayers go out to our brothers down south involved in yesterday’s building explosion. Praying for them and all their affected families.
