This year started off with hope and promise. Not far into this year, my business was shut down. On that day, I looked at the temporary closure (9 months) as an opportunity to have more time home with Bijan and rethink my life. I started doing some things differently. It’s been a frustrating year of trial and error for me, personally, emotionally and economically. I have had to readjust my priorities and standards in life. I’ve learned that I can be prosperous with less a...nd that time is in our hands, and is not up to chance. I’ve learned to value and appreciate the old and not always seek new. I see beauty in the imperfect and accept this crack in a cup or chip in a plate as a story to tell verses something to be replaced. I’ve learned that talk is like cheap paper towels (because the expensive ones are always sold out) and it takes more cheap words to clean up a mess then one genuine quality word. Say less, do more, don’t waste your words on things that don’t matter, save your words like money in the bank and spend them on meaningful conversations, use your words to bring peace, love and understanding (Thanks Elvis Costello) instead of hate and confusion. This year was not a bright light bulb moment, it was not a big accomplishment or success story. This year was about the little things, fine tuning, making changes and learning lessons that will never be forgotten (good and bad). Do I have big goals in 2021, hell yeah, and these new goals couldn’t have happened without 2020. So, cheers to 2020 and all the valuable lessons you brought. See more
