Diamond Creek Canyon is preserved! Nokes & Quinn helps neighbors resist construction of a new home in an historic garden area.
Congratulations to the residents of Diamond and Catalina Streets with properties surrounding historic and picturesque Diamond Creek Canyon. This area has been an example of landscaped beauty dating back to the 1920’s. Nokes & Quinn assisted the residents preserve this unique feature, opposing the construction of a large new home proposed to extend well into a landscaped area that has been observed and respected for decades. Some things are truly worth saving!

MOZAMBIQUE RESTAURANT ROOFTOP "VERANDA" APPROVED BY UNANIMOUS CITY COUNCIL. A unanimous Laguna Beach City Council approved the planning application and CUP for a new roof top dining and cocktail deck at Ivan Spiers' Mozambique Restaurant. The deck will be called "The Veranda", and will be open for lunch and early evening dining and cocktail service. Laurence Nokes of Nokes & Quinn represented Mozambique, with architect and project designer Marshall Ininns and land use consultant Steve Kawaratani. Nokes and Ininns previously collaborated on the application and approval for the spectacular RoofTop Deck at Chris Keller's famed La Casa del Camino Hotel and K'ya Restaurant, also in Laguna Beach.
"IS YOUR CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT LEGAL? CONTRACTORS and HOMEOWNERS With construction on the rise, we are getting lots of requests to review building contracts. California requires Home Improvement Contracts to contain specific provisions that protect both the consumer and the contractor. Most of the contracts we review fall seriously short of the state requirements. Homeowners: It's a good idea to have your contract reviewed before signing it. Contractors: If what we have seen recently is any indication, your forms can probably use a tune up. The Contractors State License Board website is a great resource for consumers and contractors. http://www.cslb.ca.gov/"
