I had a great conversation with a client yesterday. They are growing and just secured a new customer who is going to take them to the next level. I am excited for them and thrilled that our service is one of the things that has helped them get to this place. While the conversation was fantastic, it was not all rainbows and unicorns. Why?... Because growing a business is not all rainbows and unicorns. One of the downsides of using the factoring product to level out cash flow is that it is easy to let critical processes fall to the wayside because one of the drivers to creating, innovating and managing those critical processes is...cash flow stress. When the cash is flowing, it is easy to focus on growth moving forward - AKA: the *fun stuff*, rather than the systems that run the back of the house. So, this great conversation included *the talk* about those back of the house processes and how costly it is when they falter; some recommendations for how we can all do some things differently; and some agreements on how we move things forward. There are milestones we reach in business - some are calendar-based, some are financial, some are emotional. *The talk* is one of those milestones with factoring clients. If it is time for *the talk*, it means we are all doing our jobs and the rainbows and unicorns are in sight. I do love what I do!

Sharing again. The problem is getting worse and even more dangerous.

I wrote this a year and a half ago - the stacking problem is worse now than it was then.

This. This right here. I get the side-eye when I say, quite emphatically, that I don't consider other factoring companies to be my competition, whether in my back yard or on the other side of the country. It isn't over-confidence or arrogance (I do know that is the reason for the side-eyed looks).... It is, quite simply, that some of my best referral partners; some of my best collaborators; some of my greatest resources for help and information are people in my industry. I have a large extended network of other factors I work with - we share resources, information, deals, and capital. We participate in each others deals; we help each other underwrite; we point out risks and we offer encouragement. There is enough business out there for everyone, regardless of your industry. Adopting an abundance mindset changes everything.

One of the ways to level out cash flow - without creating debt - is factoring your receivables. Naysayers believe that factoring creates debt. Not true. If you have equipment in your warehouse worth 10K and you decide to sell it for $9,500, have you created debt? No. You have sold an asset at a discount, generating cash for your business operations.

And...in order to stay competitive, offer terms to your customers and still take advantage of growth opportunities, turning your invoices into cash at a faster rate through factoring might just be the answer you have been looking for!

I am honored to have been asked and look forward to the next two years.

We have had a flurry of prospective clients in the last couple of months. I have been having the "Why" conversation, a LOT. Why matters.

A huge thank you to Gerald Johnson at Sabacon Consulting for inviting me to participate in his Masterminds of Business program. I hope you enjoy!
