Mark your calendars! On Monday from 6-7 pm PST, we’re going to discuss food & culture, food security, food sovereignty, and how different organizations address these topics! Before coming to this meeting, we ask that you make your favorite dish or find a photo and recipe for it! ... Let’s talk about how much access we have to culturally-relevant food and what this means for our communities. Link to join the conversation is in our bio.
Apply to join our Board of Directors as a Community Board Member or an Alumni Board member and help student leaders create and support food justice-oriented campaigns in Berkeley and beyond! Our alumni have been and always will be a huge part of our work and our success, and as board members, they provide us student organizers with unique perspectives and valuable insights. That’s why we’re calling for any interested alumni and other non-students who believe in our mission to click the link in our bio and apply to these positions!
Join us for a text bank to save People’s Park Thursday (4/8), 5-7pm! Zoom link will be in our bio next week. You do not have to be a member of the Berkeley Student Food Collective to participate. THE FIGHT IS NOT OVER. The University of California, Berkeley Administration continues in their plans to capitalize on People’s Park. For resources: visit @peoplesparkberkeley or linktr.ee/peoplespark/.

Not a member but still want to learn tactics and strategy for shifting power in the food system with us? Everyone is welcome at our weekly #RadicalReadingClub ~ we're reading Labor Notes' "Secrets of a Successful Organizer" together ~ only about 10-15 minutes of reading each week!
TL;DR: To learn more and donate to our fundraiser, click the link in our bio! - Food Apartheid is a key term to understand when addressing the racial inequities of the food system and food space. By chipping into our GoFundMe, you can help us support East Oakland Grocery Cooperative and Farms to Grow, Inc., two East Bay food justice organizations. - As stated by the East Oakland Grocery Cooperative Project manager, Ayano Jeffers-Fabro, the cooperative is "...proudly changing... the narrative of Food Apartheid by bringing affordable, fair trade, locally grown produce, and a sustainable economy to Deep East Oakland Residents." Learn more about the organizations, their missions, and how to support long term on their individual websites and social media accounts! - Post content source: Farming while Black by Leah Penniman See more

Tomorrow @ 6pm: @sercberkeley hosts "Planting the Seeds for Justice: Black Woman Reimagining the Food System," a Zoom panel seeking to "deepen participants' understanding of the intersection of food advocacy & racial justice." Food Collective alumni are involved in the organizing: don't miss out!
Student power won us our grocery store but if we care about labor justice on this campus, we can't stop there. Our campus' librarians & lecturers (@ucaft1474) are fighting for their livelihoods against our university: tomorrow, Tuesday 7/14 at 9am, showing up online for their union's bargaining session can make a huge difference in their working conditions. Our faculty show up for us every day let's not let them down when they need us most! Link in their bio @ucaft1474 . .... From UC-AFT 1474: BARGAINING TOMORROW! . . Please join us tomorrow @ 9am as we respond to UCOP's bogus June proposal. We need all lecturers and allies on deck to support our @UCAFT team. You can sign up at: bit.ly/julybargaining. . . We know everyone is busy, but if you could even show up at the start of the meeting, it would mean the world to our table team and our efforts to secure a short-term contract that provides more job security for our pre-six lecturers in these most uncertain times. See you there! See more
No better way to spend the fourth than in the streets! Our co-op was founded out of direct action -- bring our energy with you to your community's actions this weekend -- if you're bayside, @protestsbayarea is a great place to start
Today is a great day to join the Associated Students of the University of California - ASUC in letting Berkeley, California know that we don't need 44% of our city budget spent on policing. You can do that remotely at http://bit.ly/defundberkpd
University of California says "institutionalized racism...must stop" & then fires 3,000 employees, mostly POC, while they sit on $5+ billion of unrestricted reserves? Make it make sense?? Students organizing for justice in the food system stand w campus workers organizing to keep their livelihoods. Solidarity w/ our partners AFSCME 3299 if you care about food justice in California, they're a must-follow.
