For Rosalba and myself, the path to where we are in the coffee industry hasn’t been always easy. As immigrants and Latinas, our efforts have been sometimes diminished or looked over. We thought we share with you a little bit of our story and the meaning our our name, Tico. This is an idiomatic term used to name people from Costa Rica. Mariana, our founder is a tica and she wanted to use a name that reflects her roots, but more than that, the lifestyle and well being that surround her country. Everyone who visits Costa Rica can most likely experience that good feeling and Pura Vida (pure life) that is all around us! Tico comes from the way Costa Ricans ...use adjectives to describe something small, the tendency to add the diminutive tico to the end of words.
