Bay Area Sport Hall of Fame Awards $1,250 Sports Equipment Grant June 18, 2012 We are delighted to announce that the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame (BASHOF) has awarded us $1,250 in age-appropriate sports equipment for our child development centers. BASHOF honors sports legends to benefit youth programs throughout the Bay Area and is now in its 33rd year of operations. BASHOF's generosity will help us provide an exciting environment for our children to play, explore, learn about themselves, and have fun doing it.

The governor's budget proposal would cut funding for child care by more than 20%, according to a new report by the California Budget Project. If enacted, more than 60,000 children would lose access to child care and preschool in 2012-13.
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS WORK "A child who attends a program operating three hours a day for five days a week throughout the school year has gained an extra 90 days of education. Children who participate in state and federally funded after-school programs are more engaged in school and exhibit better behavior and higher grades and test scores."
