For #BlackHistoryMonth, we celebrate Afro-Colombians and the crucial role they have had in their communities and beyond. Despite centuries of slavery, displacement, socio-economic inequalities, and discrimination, they have continued to advocate and work for the right to live and thrive, including access to quality health care. In Concern America’s program in Chocó, Colombia, Afro-Colombians make up the majority of the Health Promoter Practitioners and midwives, providing quality health services to over 20,000 previously without access to services.
