Please join coding and computer science students from all over Oakland to view CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap! We are hosting this screening so that youth coding program leaders and computer science instructors in Oakland can use it as a springboard to have conversions with their program participants and students around tech diversity and their role within the growing tech ecosystem in Oakland. CODE "exposes the dearth of American female and minority software engineers and e...xplores the reasons for this gender gap and raises the question: what would society gain from having more women and minorities code?" The night will also feature a screening of the short film Code Oakland, which "examines the evolution of Oakland through the eyes of social entrepreneurs who are determined that youth of color not be left on the sidelines as Silicon Valley spreads across the Bay and into the home of the second largest black community in California."
