Meet Pluto! This is Pluto's second year in Kesem, and he is an Architecture and Cognitive Science double major at UCLA. Everyone has their own story for #WhyIKesem and this is his. "I Kesem for my mom and my uncle. They are among two of the people I love most in the world and I honestly would not be who I am without them. Both of them have stared cancer down in the face and fortunately beat it (OH YEAH!!!) but I know this is not the case for a lot of families out there. I Kesem because I know how scary cancer can be, especially when you’re a kid and life can already be so overwhelming. I Kesem because no one should ever have to feel or be alone in this fight."
THANK YOU to our incredible advisory board, our program director, our UCLA directors, our counselors, and of course, our incredible camper families for making this unpredictable year so wonderful. We are so grateful for the times we've shared and are so excited for the next time we get to reunite. Until then, Much Kesem Love.
After two AMAZING weeks of Kesem at Home, we are reminded again of #WhyWeKesem! Eric Livingstone, the proud father of "Star Lord", one of our campers, is preparing to bike across the country on a "Highway2Heal;" a 4,000 mile cross-country journey to help his family grieve, process and move forward after the loss of his wife to cancer in 2016. Along the way, he'll be talking with experts, meeting with survivors, filming a documentary and raising funds for Camp Kesem, so that other families might benefit from his experience, too. Thank you to "Star Lord" and Eric and thank you to E! News for sharing this beautiful story. You can learn more about Eric's journey at highway2heal.com.
Goodbye Kesem at Home We had such an incredible time playing games, sharing camp memories, and watching everyone’s talents on our last day of camp! Thank you to our campers for joining us, our counselors for being great leaders, and of course, thank you to our Operations Coordinators and Directors for putting together the best Kesem at Home that could have ever existed! Everyone send some warm and fuzzies to Moo, Tilden, Scooter, Granola, and Bam Bam!!!
Throw back to camp last year! Week 2 of Kesem at Home has been a blast so far, and we’re so excited for Empowerment later today
And that’s a wrap to our first session of Kesem at Home! Thank you to all the campers and counselors who helped make the magic happen
Even through the computer screen, Kesem is magic
Today is Day 1 of Kesem at Home week 1!!! We are SO excited to share all the hard work we’ve put into this. Today’s theme is Unit Colors. Show your unit pride! See you soon
Our counselors have been working so hard to make Kesem At Home possible! Camper families participating in this year’s camp should expect a little welcome package coming in the mail! We’ve been extremely smart and safe about taking the necessary precautions while packing these up. While packing, we are always wearing a mask and sanitizing before and after each package! KAH is SO SOON!!!
Under the same moon and stars. Much Kesem Love.
