How many of you have heard of Blood Flow Restriction Training? It’s an innovative and effective way to increase muscle function and strength with much less resistance! Great for post op ACL repair, achilles repair or knee surgery, as well as rehab after prolonged immobility. Our equipment should be on its way to us soon, so all of our therapists spent this past Saturday learning how to use the cuffs safely and effectively to give you the best experience! ... We also tried multiple exercises in order to feel what you will be feeling and tired ourselves out!!!!!
Andrew is a soccer player who just finished up his rehab following an ACL repair at our Akers clinic. Looks like he’s ready! What sport or activity are you looking forward to getting back to? Let us help get you back to playing at your highest level!
We try to make our smiles big enough for you to see them, even with our masks on! Hoping you have a great week! From Therapy Specialists
Your health is essential to us! We are committed to safety and cleanliness during your visits. We continue to follow Kaweah Delta’s guidelines of PPE and sanitization as we have been successfully throughout this year. This is our favorite PTA, Aubrey, working with a patient on stability for pain free shoulder movement and strength. Let us know how we can help you move and feel better this winter!
There is a rainbow of hope after every storm
Therapy Specialists hosted a course from the Institute of Physical Art over the weekend! It was amazing to learn from one of the founders of the program, Vicki Saliba Johnson. Therapists representing all of our clinics learned Core First Strategies that we can use with our patients to create even bigger strength and functional gains. Not only did we learn, but we had some fun too! See some of us in action in the comments!
It’s REHAB WEEK! On Tuesday, our rehab staff dressed up as superheroes More fun to come the rest of the week if you visit one of our clinics!
Physical Therapist Nick Carlsen was named Employee of the Quarter for the entire rehab department You can see his professional photo next time you come into the clinic, but we wanted to make sure to post a picture of him in action at our Akers location!
We have an exciting announcement! Jessica Henning, a physical therapist at our Dinuba location, has passed the OCS exam She is now an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist! This is a very difficult certification to obtain that requires clinical experience, many hours of study and passing an extremely rigorous examination. ... We are very proud of her for this amazing accomplishment! Congratulations Jessica!
Our goal is to not only decrease your pain, but to teach you how to move correctly to maintain it! Our staff and PT students are working on proper technique for sit to stand, an easy movement we perform countless times a day. Doing our usual movements correctly can have a huge impact on our spinal health! Have back pain? We would love to teach you ways to manage it!
Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday from Therapy Specialists

We use the AlterG (Anti-gravity treadmill) at our Akers location for many types of patients. It allows them to move without pain and restore normal gait mechanics. With the ability to decrease weight bearing with exercise or walking from 100% unweighting to 20% of body weight, we are able to help people return to pain free movement much more quickly! ... This patient underwent Achilles Tendon Repair and has been working on walking without her boot. The AlterG allows her to perform normal mechanics without a limp. Her therapist, Kylee, can progressively increase her weight bearing per her rehab protocol, until she is eventually moving normally and pain free after surgery!
We pride ourselves on having specialized equipment to fit all of our patients’ needs. Here, one of our patients is using the Core Align to help improve posture, balance and functional mobility. Our therapists use the Core Align to promote firing of core and trunk stabilizer muscles with functional activities, while also being able to stretch and strengthen. It’s an excellent piece of equipment for various types of issues, including back pain, scoliosis and injuries of the hi...ps, knees, ankles and shoulders. We would love to know what piece of equipment do you feel has helped you most in your past rehab and recovery?
