Thank you Dr. Artal for your leadership and commitment to patient care and early detection. Lung cancer kills more people each year than breast, colon and prostate cancers combined. New guidelines, released last week by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF), now recommend screening for lung cancer with annual low-dose Chest CT scans in smokers who have at least a 20-pack-year history starting at age 50. With this expanded screening threshold, this simple cost-eff...ective test can save more lives than any cancer-screening test in history. We urge you to discuss this with your primary care providers and/or pulmonologist today. By screening people who are younger and who have smoked fewer cigarettes, we can save more lives and help people remain healthy longer. Speak to your doctor today if you qualify. - Dr. Dalia Artal, RadNet www.RadNetImaging.com

Today we honor Dr. William E. Allen Jr., the first African American Radiologist. Among his many achievements, in 1974 Dr. Allen received the American College of Radiology’s Gold Medal, the highest honor in radiology, in recognition of a career in which he overcame prejudice to become an excellent clinical radiologist, a teacher of residents, medical students, and radiologic technologists; the founder of the radiology section of the National Medical Association. He made considerable advances in shaping radiology as a science and profession and worked tirelessly to increase access to education for other African Americans. www.RadNetImaging.com

3D Mammography is the state of the art mammogram technology that improves our ability to detect breast cancers. It has some distinct advantages over conventional 2D mammograms, most notably is its ability to create a 3D or volumetric image of the breast. If a 2D mammogram is like looking at the floor plan of a home, then a 3D mammogram allows you to open the doors and look inside, affording a more detailed evaluation. Dr. Jason McKellop

Remind your friends and family members how important yearly mammograms are! According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed among women in the United States today. It is the second leading cause of death among women after lung cancer.
Today we stand with the Metastatic Breast Cancer community. An estimated 154,000+ women are currently living with metastatic breast cancer in the United States. While this disease is terminal and cannot be cured, it is not hopeless. Because of improved treatments many women can live long, productive lives for many years with this type of cancer. There are a wide variety of treatment options and new medicines are being tested every day.
Thank you Dr. Hession for sharing this important message with women. "Early detection of breast cancer with annual mammography remains our most powerful tool in the fight against breast cancer in women." - Dr. Mariela Hession... #BreastCancerAwareness #EarlyDetection
There are several symptoms that can occur in women with breast cancer. Experiencing one or more of these breast symptoms does not mean you have cancer. However, women should be aware of symptoms and changes in their breasts to enable early detection of breast cancer.
