Hello to all, I hope everyone is doing well and safe during this crazy times. I would like to keep everyone up to date in regards with the gym. As of now we are still closed and have stopped all operation. We won’t know if we will open again. But if we do open again, we will need to do a lot of changes. First off we will not have kids class anymore unfortunately. Without a vaccine in place for the COVID-19, i don’t want to jeopardize there health and well being. I can offer ...one on one sessions if they would like to continue. Second is that we will only be doing 30 minute classes. If we are at the stage that we will have to do the social distancing being 6 ft away from each other while doing the class then we will only do bag work. For a small gym we don’t have much bags so that’s why we will need to do 30 minute classes. Members will be allowed to do one class only so we can give others a chance to take classes and I will have a sign up on the website. Third is that everyone will have to come in dressed up to train. I will have a thermometer ready to take everyone’s temperature. If you have a high fever or coughing, you will not be allowed to step in the gym. For the time frame of each classes now, we would need to utilize the time so everyone can take the class and be out on there way after the class is over so the new batch can come in while do safe distancing. The showers will be off limits at the gym unfortunately and folks will need to go home and shower from there. There will be no more hanging out at the gym before and after for the safety of others meaning the doors will be locked before class starts and if you are late you will have to reschedule. We will end the classes about 10 minutes so I can clean and sanitize the bags and floor in time for the next batch and the folks will need to leave right away. If this can not be followed then you will not be allowed to come back to the gym. We need to be safe and respectful of others. Fourth is that pricing will change. We will not have anymore different prices. Everyone will start paying the same price. I haven’t thought about the pricing yet but I know that it will cost a little more due to the work that is needed to do during these times. Old and new members will have to adjust to the new pricing. The reason for these changes is to be in business still while following the rules and guidelines. This is also to have everyone do the classes while keeping the environment safe. If I need to make more changes I will let everyone know. I’m only a one man team at the gym. I’m doing all the admin, teaching, and cleaning once we start this. I will understand if the old members will not continue with me in regards to this. But we have to do some changes. For any questions please email me at [email protected] Thank you for your understanding. Take care and be safe. Chris Berk Muay

I feel us martial arts gym should be able to operate during this time. We can control the amount of people that can be in a gym, we can comply with the regulations of the social distancing aspect, and if that, we can do private one on one sessions if while still being 6 ft away, if we can only do bag work the so be it. I understand the big gyms like the 24 fitness and all that can’t operate but we can’t be included as the same category with them. There should be some way that we can operate. Chris Berk Muay

To have the shelter in place extended till the end of May, and without hearing anything on how us small business gyms can open up again, it’s going to be hard. Hope they can let’s us open again. But just wish they would update us to see if there’s a chance atleast. It’s rough coming to an empty gym just to check the mail and to see if everything’s still intact. Let’s stay safe till then. It will be hard for us small businesses to get back running up again if everyone is not doing there part in being safe and preventing from getting infected. They’re are still folks out there unfortunately going to these social gatherings and now are getting infected. I don’t know if our business or any small businesses will survive if more and more are getting infected due to their negligence and the possibility of the extension of the quarantine lock down going further and f...urther. It’s sad because most of us that are in the martial arts world that enjoys teaching and giving guidance will not have a gym in the long run due to this and to most of us, this is our form of living financially. It is also sad that folks are not caring for others well being while in this crisis. I hope we all can do our part for it to get better. Hope everyone keeps safe. Chris Tandoc Berk Muay

Hello to all, I will be closing the gym till April 1st due to the virus. With the news of people getting it without having symptoms and also how the environment of berkeley nowadays is, it’s better to be safe. If everything gets better before April then I will reopen. Till then take care, be safe and I will see everyone soon. Chris... Berk Muay See more

Hello to all, With whats going on in the world today, I choose to have the gym open in the mean time till further notice. I believe that we do enough at the gym with cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting everything but also having access to sanitizers, soaps, and wipes all around the gym that we keep our end to make things safe. All i ask is that be considerate of others here and do not come in if your not at 100%. Out of all the years we have been open, we havent got anyone... sick at the gym. So please, lets be safe and clean when coming in and out of the gym. Thank you all. Chris Berk Muay
