At first glance, the TVIC appears to be your standard transit center. It offers easy access to all visitors seeking essential rider information or connecting to their destination via LBT routes, the Metro A Line and other regional Transit systems. As you continue into the First Street Transit Gallery, you'll see that it offers a much deeper look into a facet that Long Beach holds close to its heart, Community Art. In honor of National Art Day, Long Beach Transit launches a ne...w installation featuring artwork in partnership with the Arts Council for Long Beach’s Eye on Design Program. The installation will be integrated into the First Street Transit Gallery, offering visitors a unique Art Gallery experience. Eye on Design is a 15-week student course program based around public service through public art - showcasing student mosaics inspired by neighborhoods in and around the city. Our board member Jocelynn Pryor has created Giving Tuesday campaign. We want to thank her and all of our board members who have given over 1200 hours of their time this year. When so many cities were still struggling to create an Artist Relief fund early during the pandemic, our board voted to seed a fund in May 2020 with $30,000 which then doubled by August with private and public dollars - and then tripled in October with city support. We are still working on creating more relief funds. Thank you. Gracias. Salamat. #keepartsworking #artcreateshope #ArtsLB #WeCreateUs

As the final weeks of the presidential campaign draw to a close, International City Theatre will stream a virtual presentation of Daisy, a fascinating look at the creation of and psychology behind TV’s first political attack ad. Set during the 1964 presidential campaign that pitted Great Society Democrat Lyndon B. Johnson against Republican populist Barry Goldwater, Sean Devine’s compelling drama takes us behind the scenes to advertising firm Doyle Dane Bernbach on Saturday..., Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. PT. / 10 p.m. ET. Tickets are $20.00 at www.InternationalCityTheatre.org, where Daisy will remain available for viewing on demand through Nov. 7. Based on true events and strikingly relevant today, Daisy explores the moment in TV history when the political attack ad was born. In the autumn of 1964, bloody turmoil over Civil Rights was spilling onto the streets, a fearful ideology that made the threat of nuclear war palpable was growing from the conservative right, and a skirmish in the far-off nation of Vietnam wouldn’t go away. With the presidential election looming, an advertising agency working for Lyndon Johnson unleashed the most devastating political commercial ever conceived, the Daisy ad. It was so controversial at the time that it only aired once
