"One of the threads I think is most resonant in my life is the thread of seeing writing as an instrument for change. So not just writing to write something, but writing to make something right." Poet and activist Amanda Gorman, 1440 Life Inside Out podcast In January 2020, just before the pandemic shifted our lives in ways that no one could predict, award-winning television journalist and human rights activist Peggy Callahan interviewed Amanda Gorman for the first episode of... our special podcast series 1440 Life Inside Out. Amanda shared her inspirations, life's difficult lessons, and even read a poem at the 1,200-year-old Mother Tree on our campus in the redwoods, as she embodied the 1440 vision of creating hope for living well for the greater good of humanity. As we recognize Veteran’s Day and extend our sincerest gratitude to those who have served in the Armed Forces, we are proud to introduce a new initiative at 1440 Multiversity: Healing Our Military Veterans. Thank you Operation BBQ Relief for helping us create hope for living well in our community.

1440 Multiversity 02.11.2020

This week we’ve had the pleasure of visiting several of the organizations that are receiving meals prepared by 1440 Multiversity with support from Operation BBQ Relief, including non-profit Pajaro Valley Loaves and Fishes, Inc. in Watsonville, which has seen an increase in clients since the CZU Lightning Complex fires and COVID-19 pandemic. We are so grateful to extend our partnership with Operation BBQ Relief for an additional 10,500 meals so we can continue to help feed the Santa Cruz County community. As Pajaro Valley Loaves and Fishes kitchen manager Maria Gonzalez shared, It really makes me feel supported to receive this food to help people who have lost their houses due to the fires. #1440LoveWell #1440Multiversity #CommunityBuilding #CZULightningComplex
