Bruce has been volunteering at Samaritan House for over ten years. Three mornings each week, he collects near-expired groceries and delivers them to the kitchen, preventing food waste and feeding his community at the same time. Thank you, Bruce! : Vicky Stein

"I first heard of Samaritan House when I was a small child. I lived in an apartment complex next to headquarters and each time that I’d walk to my Karate classes, I would pass by the building. I was always interested in learning what was going on in there, so when I decided that I wanted to volunteer and participate in community service, my first stop was at Samaritan House. Giving back to my community has proven to be one of the greatest parts of the week and a great start ...to the weekend. Hunger is on the rise, and according to San Francisco Chronicle, food insecurity has tripled in San Mateo County. Since COVID-19 began, we've been putting out an extra 100,000 meals per month to meet the overwhelming demand.
