Next up, ChaCha! The senior chihuahua dog with the biggest ears EVER is finally heading in for HER big oral surgery tomorrow! She’s one of the six seniors rescued from a woman who was hoarding and neglecting dogs while living in a car, all of which needed a ton of care ChaCha is now safe and sound with a rescue group (RAIN) in Washington state. RAIN is caring for her, helping her to get ready for a forever home! If you’d like to help pay for her surgery, please donate and mention ChaCha in the notes at startrescue.org/donate-main please write ChaCha on the note, or donate just below the post here! Funds raised will go straight to the vet and towards ChaCha’s care, at Commence Bay Hospital in Tacoma, WA.
Remember GIZMO? He’s one of the six seniors that we recently Rescued via the START Animal Rescue Bus! He had his oral surgery (thank you donors!) and now he’s been adopted He even had his first puppucino I can’t believe how shiny and healthy he looks. From living in a car with 8 other dogs neglected and starved, to snuggled and pampered, in just a few weeks
We thought we had found the perfect home for GEORGIE, but as it turns out, he is really just too terrified of cats!! And he decided couldn’t get over it (maybe he has a history with cats???), the poor little honey! So our fabulous partner Jenny at A WOOF Over My Head committed to ensuring that he found another wonderful (and cat free) home. It’s always so sad and sometimes frustrating when new homes don’t work out, but sometimes moving on to another home, is really the best... thing to do. In this case, Georgie was perfectly happy to settle in elsewhere, happy to be free of the scary, evil, terrible, no good, monstrous kitty cat (the cat was perfectly sweet and lovely) and to charm his new mom and Nana We love you GEORGIE - colleen @startanimalrescue See more
2020 - START Rescue’s Year in Review What a year. What a seriously crazy, wild ride of a year. No doubt about it, 2020 was not easy. But if there was one positive to be had, it was in the rescue world. People were adopting and fostering dogs in HUGE numbers, and as people were stuck at home, the number of abandoned animals were also way down! As a result, for us that meant that the rescue bus wasn’t covering as many miles for a few months, BUT that also meant, that in ...Continue reading
Combined 5,000 reward from community members. URGENT - MISSING/STOLEN START-Rescue-Family, SERVICE DOG in North HollyWood / Toluca Lake / Studio City. Please post on local LA NextDoors (especially if you live near the areas above!) and let us know the area you were able to post in. This would be HUGELY helpful! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you thank you! Jimmy and BOOTS are a homeless pair that have been coming to the START Rescue Resale Store for nearly 4 y...ears now. Jimmy does odd jobs in the store as BOOTS supervises, has a meal or takes naps. Jimmy also brings small pieces of furniture he finds at peoples curbs that are being discarded for us to sell at the store. As a young teen Jimmy was removed from an abusive home and placed in a foster care facility. From there he was put out on the street and has been on his own ever since. Jimmy and BOOTS are part of the START Rescue family. They have a very strong and incredibly sweet, endearing bond. BOOTS gets very nervous and agitated when Jimmy leaves his sight. Jimmy is a kind and generous man and considers START his family and often tells us how we have been the only people who have cared about him and he cries when he tells us how grateful he is. Makes us cry too! We love him right back! BOOTS is a fat, good natured boy. He is also a CERTIFIED service animal and registered with Los Angeles Animal Control. START pays for his veterinary care through our HOPE program, which sponsors the pets of people living in homelessness in Sherman Oaks, and their humans too! BOOTS is such a healthy and loved boy. If you know us, you know that we are always looking forward to our work, and always planning the next BIG START rescue mission...and yet doing whatever we can to rescue one special dog at a time too! Well BOOTS is very special, BOOTS is family! Please Help us get our START Dog BOOTS home to Jimmy where he belongs. Spread the word, watch for Boots, let’s bring him home!
Mid-afternoon cuddle pawty with Jerome, Georgie, Chip, Roy & Phil.
They often say that eyes are the windows to the soul. Man Man has the kindest and most loving eyes, and they truly reflect his personality! Since Man Man has been with us, we’ve learned that he loves spending time outside. He can often be found laying or rolling around in the grass, and he loves barking at lizards! (He never tries to catch them, a testament to how kind he really is! ) We love you so much, Man Man.
Georgie is staying by Chips side during his paw recovery. He has had a limp and swollen paw for a little while now but every day he is getting better. Thank you Georgie for being such a good friend. Chip is very happy he has you
Get to know me Series: Hi, My name is Susie! My girlfriends call me SusieQ and Suz. I am a 19 year old Chihuahua mix. I was rescued from West Valley Animal Shelter in 2018. I was a stray found on the streets. I am thankful to call Wise Tails my Forever Home. I used to have severe dental disease and I had all teeth but one removed. I have a huge crush on Roy. But shhhh its a secret.
Say Cheese!! Fred is curled up in his favorite patio chair and decided to show off his adorable little teeth. You’re so handsome Fred!
Man Man is all snuggled up and ready to hit to hay! Good night angel boy
These seniors love cuddling up with each other. Georgie and Phil (left cushion) are bunk-mates, and so are Roy and Jerome (right cushion)! Although they share a living space overnight, they still want to lay close to one another in the community area. You guys are too cute for your own good!!
Jerome and Georgie take being watchdogs very seriously... no days off for these boys!
