Meet the Mediterranean sea lavender (Limonium vulgare) Sea-lavender is a salt-loving plant and thrives is saltmarshes and on the edges of runnels through mudflats in estuaries. Common sea-lavender is actually not related to Lavender at all, so does not have the characteristic smell. However, it is a great nectar-source and is visited by bees, wasps, butterflies and moths.... Flower spikes of Sea-lavender are popular for use in dried-flower arrangements, because the flowers hold their shape and their deep lilac colour lasts for many months before fading.

Meet our Echeveria gibbiflora. Beginning around the middle of the 20th Century, growers, collectors, and horticulturalists began churning out a great many new E. gibbiflora hybrids. The results were dramatic and diverse: bumps, curls and every color imaginable, sometimes all on a single plant (Have a look at Echeveria ‘Mauna Loa’). Dick Wright, Frank Reinelt and Harry Butterfield were all California-based echeveria enthusiasts and instrumental in producing some of the most b...eautiful E. gibbiflora hybrids that we see today. Echeveria hybridizing continues in our modern times, and it’s unlikely to stop any time soon due to the beauty and diversity of the genus.
