Members of the Monterey County Urban Search And Rescue (USAR) Team spent a day of rope rescue training at Pinnacles National Park. The California Office of Emergency Services Type 1 USAR Team is made up of personnel from the Monterey County Regional Fire District, North County Fire District, and the Monterey Fire Department. Members of the team worked with the rangers at the park in order to improve rescue skills, learn new techniques, and establish a solid working relationship with the park rangers. With attendance at the park on a steady uphill climb, the need for well trained and experienced USAR Team members and park rangers in rope rescue techniques is critical. Well done!

Your Greenfield Firefighters spent Saturday morning training at the 200 block of Huerta Ave on advancing a hose load and improvising a standpipe exterior stret...ch using a hotel pack. This would be a fire suppression technique to get to a location not reasonably accessible. Crews also familiarize themselves with the layout of an apartment complex and its fire suppression systems. #local4656 #Heartofthevalley #trainyourprobie #bomberos #firetraining #exteriorstretch #greenfieldfiredepartment

WILDLAND FIRE SEASON TRAINING As wildland fire season approaches, the Santa Cruz County Training Division Wildland Cadre has put together a series of trainings..., hosted by the Scotts Valley Fire Protection District. Fire agencies throughout the County have been in attendance over the course of the last few weeks to train for the approaching season. This portion of the training focuses on drafting operations, identifying and utilizing alternate water sources, and portable pump operations. These skills are essential on the fire line, and allow crews to best combat wildland fires. #scottsvalleyfire #wildlandfire #training #santacruzcounty #fireseason

Four new Part Time Firefighters began their on boarding training Saturday morning. The new firefighters spent the day reviewing their skills to include ladder ...deployment, radio use, donning turn outs and self contained breathing apparatus. All four firefighters graduated from a fire academy and are accredited EMT’s. As part of their employment they will be on probation for a year in which they will be tasked to complete a firefighter task book to review firefighter skills and competence. ********* Cuatro nuevos bomberos de medio tiempo comenzaron su entrenamiento de abordaje el sábado por la mañana. Aptos/La Selva Fire and Central Fire hosted a County Live Fire exercise the last two weeks, in which firefighters are required to access the second floor of a b...urning structure, "break out" a window, conduct a search for, and rescue, any victims. This exercise gives the firefighters valuable experience working in conditions with real smoke and allows them to become more confident in their skills and abilities under live-fire conditions. It was also a great opportunity to train with firefighters from Watsonville Fire Department, Scotts Valley Fire District, and Santa Cruz Fire Department and reinforce the common terminology that we are implementing across the county. A BIG thanks to the firefighters and training cadre from Santa Cruz, Watsonville and Scotts Valley, who helped conduct the training and assisted in the facility improvements necessary to accommodate this training.
