An evening of FREE live theatre on Zoom taking place on TONIGHT February 23rd 2021 at... 7:00 pm (GMT-London) 11:00 am (PST-Los Angeles) 2:00 pm (EST-New York City) Our showcase marks two very important dates. First, on Feb 14th, it was the Studio’s anniversary. It also marks the 1 year anniversary, March 13th, when our studio had to make the difficult yet inevitable decision to close our physical studio theater doors due to the Covid 19 pandemic & open our virtual studio theater doors. However, we didn’t give up. We persevered. And though we struggled w/ the unknown, something incredible happened. As is so often the case in the life of the artist, we adjusted, adapted & made the creative conscious decision to do all we can to continue our work in this foreign land of Zoom while still upholding all of our professional standards of truth, authenticity, exploration, sophistication & artistic integrity. We at MC Actors Studio believe that artists are essential. We are so proud to dedicate our showcase to help raise donations for two funds. The first is The Actors Benevolent Fund which is an organization helping actors greatly affected & in need because of the Covid pandemic. We are also raising funds to create our first ever MC Actors Studio Scholarship Fund to offer financial assistance to applying actors from our talented ensembles experiencing financial hardship & want to continue w/ the cultivation of their craft at our studio. When our actors walk through the stage door (virtually speaking now), they know whole heartedly that they are stepping into an extremely safe, respectful and... professional space that is fully dedicated to each of them individually as well as the entire craft of acting. It‘s a professionally and artistically challenging environment in that it holds all of our actors responsible and accountable artistically, professionally, business-wise, and frankly, ALL aspects of what is needed and expected to experience longevity in this complicated business. It’s committed to exercising the actor’s artistic and professional instrument on all levels. It’s the equivalent to going to the gym, artistically speaking. It is for our actors, as a safe space, to get messy, to get specific, to struggle when they need to struggle through, to cultivate and continue cultivating CRAFT, and to celebrate diving into obstacles/blocks equally as celebrating breakthroughs/successes! It is about developing professional and artistic tools that support the actor throughout the entirety of their careers. It allows for our actors to learn and know what they are doing so they can live in the unknown of the text in an exciting, organic, unpredictable, instinctual, honest, and truthful way. It opens the door to the freedom that they have been craving each and every time they go do the work. An Important Message To All Present & Perspective MC Actors Studio Students and Ensemble Members, The safety of all our students and ensemble members is and always will be of the utmost importance to us. In compliance with the present Public Health, Public Safety & Governmental Issued Guidelines, MC Actors Studio will not be holding classes at the Shepard Theater for the time being. ... In order to continue with our creative work, artistic training and persevere exercising the craft of acting, we have mindfully adjusted our curriculum to be held online to be sure that all Public Health, Public Safety & Governmental Guidelines are carefully respected and followed. We will continue with this necessary adjustment until we have been given the necessary Public Health, Public Safety & Governmental information clearly stating that it is safe and appropriate to hold classes at our normal theater venue. Details about how this adjusted way of working will be discussed on a very specific detailed collective studio Skype Meeting for all present ensemble members. For all actors that have already been scheduled to audition for our studio, or are requesting to be scheduled, we will still be holding those appointments but they will be held online through Skype for the time being.
