Mike Gillespie, my baseball coach from USC, passed away last month. A conversation we had in his office my freshman year compelled me to film this video, One Federal Prison "Mistake" You Should Make.

Thankful to my friend Ludovic for painting this beautiful photo of Jason and Alyssa. It arrived from France in plenty of time to surprise my wife today on her bday.

Federal Prison Flashback (My Interview From Jail in 2009)

Justin Paperny 20.04.2021

Spent some time talking Prison with my friend, @kevinfrazier from Entertainment Tonight. I met Kevin years ago when he was donating a lot of his time to the Boys and Girls Club in Venice. He also helped them raise a lot of $. Great person. Our interview will air tomorrow night.

My endless stream of bogeys didn’t stop me from having an awesome time golfing at Bel Air Country Club yesterday. Special thanks to my colleague and mentor, @thechriscase for inviting me!

Spent the morning lecturing at Georgetown Law School. I enjoy giving back and helping our future leaders understand the motivations and consequences of white collar crime.

When I was in the halfway house in 2009, I spent my free passes cold walking into law offices in downtown LA. I was trying to give away Lessons From Prison to lawyers. Day after day I was thrown out of offices, told not to solicit. Some laughed at me. It was humbling, but with a prison record, I had to stick with it. It took years. Today I’ll train defense attorneys, prosecutors and Judges on sentencing and mitigation. They also all received a new copy of Prepare. Life is different as a felon, but it’s also freeing. You’re forced to try new thingslike cold walking into law offices just minutes after being released from prison. I hope my story inspires other criminals to embrace their underdog status and try new things, as humbling as it may be.

Some people, I think, forget the government has unlimited resources. A defendant, whether rich or poor, is at a major disadvantage when preparing for sentencing. I find it odd when people think I’m simply some pricey consultant who helps the rich stay out of jail. That’s absurd. I help defendants level the playing field by asking the judge to take the totality of their life into consideration at sentencing. I shared these thoughts on the Tamron Hall Show today. I’ll continue to share them. @ ABC7

In between lectures today at the USC Marshall School of Business, I popped by the baseball field to catch up with my former teammates and roommates, Gabe Alvarez and Jacque Jones. Hoping Gabe and his staff can bring a championship. Been too long. Proud to be a Trojan!

Breaking it down with Dr. Phil.

Justin Paperny 11.01.2021

Very grateful to Dr. Phil & his team for bringing so much attention to our work. In his new Phil in the Blanks podcast we discuss how I went from executive to prisoner to consultant and author. We also discuss the college cheating scandal at length.
