Covid-19 Immune System Boosting Plan: Supplements: I recommend Vitamin C (10,000mg; 3-5 divided doses) and D (5000-10000IU’s), zinc (~20 mg), selenium (~100mcg...), activated charcoal (daily), colloidal silver (nasal and throat sprays; consumption), quercetin, and iodine (2 drops Lugol’s iodine). I also add in an elderberry/echinacea blend. Weekly Chiropractic Adjustments: Studies show the production of healthy immune boosting cells were significantly increased after spinal manipulation (Teodorczyk-Injeyan et al. Chiropractic & Osteopathy 2010). These cells help the immune system attack the bad guys (antigens) and then recover once the threat is gone. #repost @doctorroetman One of my all-time favorite conditions to treat, DISC HERNATIONS! I could talk for hours on the physiology and anatomy of the inte...rvebral discs that reside between our vertebrae, but here is the foundational summary of what you need to know about disc herniations, in particular Lumbar Disc Herniations. Signs and Symptoms of a Lumbar Disc Herniation (Ref. 5) - Debilitating back pain - Numbness, weakness, or tingling down the leg (radiculopathy) - Antalgic gait (walking with a severe lean to avoid pain) - Severe pain upon coughing, sneezing, or straining (positive valsalvas) - Excruciating pain in the morning (because as you are sleeping your discs are drinking and swell up) How do disc herniations occur? - Trauma ( this could be bad form during a heavy deadlift or squat, car accident, sports injury) - Repetitive motions in a dysfunctional pattern creating a subluxation (this means you have done something repeatedly with bad biomechanics and eventually leads to a subluxation or misalignment of the vertebrae which puts unequal pressure on the disc causing it to herniate.) It's the proverbial straw that breaks the camels back. Similar to type 2 diabetes, which doesn't occur over one bad meal but a million high carbohydrate meals. The same pattern occurs with disc herniations. This doesn't always occur from one day of bad biomechanics, but thousands of days bending and twisting wrong. Can disc herniations be healed without surgery? YES! This is the good news and is one of my favorite conditions to treat without surgery. I can't even count how many patients I have witnessed/treated that came in for treatment for a herniated disc and couldn't walk and were crying from pain and leave our clinic walking almost pain free. Depending on the severity, these can be resolved in a matter of a few weeks up to several months for a full recovery. The sooner you can treat them the quicker the healing will be and the shorter the recovery time. This is called the Foundation Exercise, which was developed by Dr. Eric Goodman. This exercise works by toning and working the muscles of your posterior chain, which are all the muscles on the backside of your body. I personally do this exercise a few times a day and during my rest intervals when I am working out large muscle groups to keep my core activated and my posterior chain intact and strong.
