You don't have to be a kid to join the Summer Reading Program at the Library. All ages can join in - with contests, prizes, YouTube activities... It's all on line and starting on June 1st. Check it out! https://www.slolibrary.org/index.p/kids/kids-summer-reading
We were recently asked if there were any community-based book exchange programs. YES, there is. It is called Little Free Library (LFL). This is another way to find books you've been wanting to read. There are 3 LFLs in Atascadero, 5 in Templeton, 3 in Paso Robles, and 1 in Santa Margarita.... Here's some basic information on the organization (which is a 501c3 non-profit) ... the website will enable you to find the addresses of the LFLs in our North County communities. https://littlefreelibrary.org/ A Little Free Library is a take a book, return a book free book exchange. They come in many shapes and sizes, but the most common version is a small wooden box of books. Anyone may take a book or bring a book to share. Little Free Library book exchanges have a unique, personal touch. There is an understanding that real people are sharing their favorite books with their community; Little Libraries have been called mini-town squares. If you take a book (or two) from a Library, you do not need to return that exact book. However, in order to keep the Little Library full of good choices for the whole neighborhood, the next time you swing by the Library bring a few books to share. Little Library book exchanges function on the honor system; everyone contributes to ensure there are always quality books inside. This way, we all win!
