It will be called "The Eighth Street News" since my gallery is on 8th Street in Sanger, and it will be sent on the 8th of each month. Yesterday, I sent out a newsletter for the first time since winter of 2019. That's. a LONG time not doing one. But I'm happy to say I will be back on track again, doing "The Eighth Street News" on the 8th of every month. Art Hop in Fresno is starting up again! Artists are VERY happy about this. All artists are happy that the restrictions are lessening because we have had few visitors for many months. We look forward to reconnecting with friends, fellow artists, and art lovers in upcoming weeks. We have missed you all!

I always told my art students here at the gallery that "art is about problem-solving" and I still believe that wholeheartedly. The painting that I'm in the middle of is a perfect example. When you let each stroke of the brush determine the next stroke of the brush and you let each color you apply determine the next color you apply, you're always solving a problem that you didn't know was coming or you didn't know you had until your most recent brushstroke. I guess I enjoy abstracts the most because I'm not trying to replicate reality. Instead, I'm trying to create interest, excitement, movement, beauty, inspiration, and pleasure. Onward and upward! In other words, back to work! Photos and a blog post soon, I promise!

And today, it’s Bernie’s 4th birthday! Happy Birthday to Los Arriba Maestro, after Leonard Bernstein. Bernie is doing so well in Rally, Nosework, and Barnhunt. It will be fun to see what this year brings.

On March 5th, I was the featured artist at Kia Cotton's studio (Art Lab 559) at M Street in downtown Fresno? Were you there? If you were, did you ask me to make you a coiled basket like the one I was working on at the sewing machine that night? A friendly, soft-spoken, dark-haired woman ordered one, in earth tones with greens and golds and browns, and gave me her card so I could contact her when it was finished. And then COVID 19 happened. The gallery was closed, my sewing m...achine was in for repair, and her card sat on my table, waiting for me to finish the bowl/basket and get in touch with her. My sewing machine is repaired, the basket is finished, but I've lost her card and didn't write the info down anywhere. I am sad. If you are her or were there that night with her, could you comment below or message me, please? I'm asking Facebook for help and we'll see what she can do. :) The basket is beautiful and wants to go home. See more
