A reminder that our HCOM138/338/426/499 final class meeting will take place during the week of finals on Tuesday, May 16. You should report to CP470 for evaluations and the High Impact Practice survey at 5 pm (the scheduled final exam period). Afterwards, please join us at Roundtable pizza (on Chapman) for an end-of-the-season pizza party (we encourage those of you with cars to help coordinate rides for anyone who does not have a vehicle. Unfortunately, your instructors cannot be present during the evaluations, but the graduate assistants will be there to coordinate with you). We hope to see everyone at Roundtable!

Speech and Debate students registering for fall classes: Please consider taking HCOM426 with Joel Salcedo, especially if you have already taken HCOM138 or HCOM338 multiple times. (HCOM426: Directing Forensics gives you an option to do service work for the team or to compete in intercollegiate competition. It also meets form 4-6:45 on Tuesdays.) Additionally, many of you might enjoy a new course offering, HCOM492T: Political Communication with Dr. Alyssa Samek. It’s a great course to take in an election year and will only be offered this fall. The sooner you can sign up and reserve your spot in the classes, the better!

Best of luck to the Titans competing at Nationals this weekend! Gabriela Gonzalez and Berenice Delgado have won two rounds so far at the 2016 Binghamton NDT and are currently competing in round 5. Competition also started today for Clinton Christopher who is attending the NIET in Gainesville, FL with graduate coach, Joe Sindicich. Good luck!!!

It's been a busy weekend for the CSUF speech and debate team. The policy team is on their way home from Novice/JV Nationals at California State University, Sacramento. The novice team of Michael Rizk and Jessica Tero were semifinalists. The JV team of Kai Rendino and Lasai Willett had a commendable 3-3 record after hitting a wall of University Washington teams who eventually closed out the JV Division. Meanwhile the Public Forum Team attended the National Education Debate Association Nationals at Fullerton College. Vanessa Ramirez and Zuzel Sisniega received second place in novice policy. Roseline Aneke and Gabe Botello were the 4th place, semifinalist team in the division of Crossfire Debate. Great job, Titans!

ATTENTION FORMER AND CURRENT STUDENTS: this year the University's IRA budget committee is accepting testimonials as part of the application process when considering 2016-2017 program budgets. We hope that our current competitors and alums will help us explain why forensics is a worthwhile activity and why our budget should be restored to previous levels. Many of you wrote letters on our behalf in the fall. You can help us by doing one of the following: 1. resend that lette...r to me, Erika Thomas at [email protected], or 2. send me a brief or edited testimonial that focuses on why you enjoyed our activity, what the activity has done for you, why its one of CSUF's most valuable co-curriculars, and why it should be funded fully by IRA. I need all testimonials by SUNDAY, JANUARY 31 at NOON. Scans and emails are preferred since the submission process is electronic and must come from the current director. Thank you for all of your help! See more
