Last year, we hosted our first Trading Card Contest. Our winner was 9 year old, Adilany Cortez with her Police K-9 drawing. Yesterday, Adilany was presented with a frame containing her trading card, her original drawing and a Woodland PD patch. She also received a batch of her very own trading cards! We would like to thank all those who submitted drawings for the contest, the Woodland Law Enforcement Assistance Foundation WLEAF for sponsoring the trading cards and Blue Wing Art Gallery for donating the framed work. We will be having another trading card contest soon, so make sure to follow us on our Instagram (@WoodlandPolice).

Update to the Earlier Breaking News On 1/13/21, at 12:52 in the area of County Rd 102 and E. Main St a Woodland Police Officer saw a vehicle and identified the driver as Nathan Dominguez, a 22-year-old Woodland resident, who was wanted on a warrant for a violent felony. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle on E. Beamer St between Pioneer Ave and County Road 102 as it exited a business. The vehicle fled from the police. Dominguez did not yield for police and a pursuit bega...n. Officers pursued the vehicle eastbound E. Beamer St then southbound County Rd 102. The vehicle turned eastbound on E. Main St and reached speeds up to 80 mph. It wove its way back to County Rd 102 where it continued southbound to E. Gibson Rd. The vehicle traveled into oncoming traffic on E. Gibson Rd then went northbound on Matmor Rd where it drove through the residential neighborhoods to the west of Matmor Rd. The vehicle drove through the east side of the city until at E. Gibson Rd west of Matmor Rd Dominguez almost struck a pedestrian. The police ended the pursuit because of Dominguez’ disregard for public safety. The vehicle continued to flee westbound through the city. The vehicle was located abandoned by Yolo County Sheriff Deputies on a dirt road to the southwest edge of town. Officers who were checking the area located Dominguez in the area of Midway Dr. and Bella Casa Dr. where he surrendered himself. Dominguez was booked at Yolo County Jail for evading the police and his warrants. #WoodlandPD #YoloSheriff #WorkingTogether (VLD) See more

On Saturday Woodland Police Department with Woodland, Joint Unified School District, and Child Protective Services completed our Fill the Trunk toy giveaway. It was a heartwarming experience. We would like to give a special shout out to Woodland Police Officers Association, Yolo County Sheriff's Department Deputy Association, A.R. Landscaping, Home Depot, Walmart, and Dutch Bros. Without these larger dollar amount cash donors we would not have been able to host the event the way that we did. (VLD) #WoodlandPD #InThisTogether2020 #HolidayJoy #FillTheTrunk

Homeless Outreach Team On 12/18/20 at about 12:00 p.m. the Homeless Outreach Team assisted Home Depot with a broken-down motor home that was on their property. Notices had been posted on the vehicle informing the owners that it needed to be moved. Debris had begun to pile up around it. A woman was inside the motor home. The woman was struggling with both physical and mental health issues. With the assistance of the Yolo County Mental Health clinician assigned as a Co-Responder with the Woodland Police Department, the woman was transported to Woodland Memorial Hospital where she could get the care she needed.
