Formal Charges Filed Against Suspect in Discovery Bay Homicide and Antioch Multiple Shooting Suspect This morning detectives from the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff, Antioch Police Department and Brentwood Police Department jointly filed their cases against 26-year-old Darryon Williams of Stockton. He is the suspect in Saturday’s multiple shooting of first responders in Antioch, a murder in Discovery Bay and robbery in Brentwood. The Contra Costa D.A.’s Office has... filed the following charges against Williams: -Murder -Second degree robbery -Shooting from a vehicle -Assault on peace officer/firefighter with semiautomatic firearm (6 counts) -Assault with a semiautomatic firearm (3 counts) -Fleeing a pursuing peace officer’s motor vehicle while driving recklessly Williams remains in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility. He is being held in lieu of $9,790,270 bail. The Office of the Sheriff would like to thank the Antioch and Brentwood Police Departments for their assistance during our homicide investigation. Sheriff’s Office Arrests Homicide Suspect in Multiple Shooting Incident UPDATE: Feb. 23, 2021 Kimberly Meeks and her son were located this morning and they are safe. ... ORIGINAL PRESS RELEASE: On Saturday, February 20, 2021, at about 8:51 PM, Antioch police officers, AMR medics and CON Fire personnel were shot at by a subject in a drive-by shooting. Two were hit and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene and was pursued by numerous law enforcement agencies. The suspect was taken into custody in the City of Richmond. The suspect was later identified as 26-year-old Darryon Williams of Stockton. Later that evening, the Antioch Police Department requested Contra Costa Sheriff’s Deputies contact a person related to their case and conduct a welfare check at a residence on the 2100 block of Newport Court in Discovery Bay. Delta Station Deputy Sheriffs arrived at the residence and found the door to the home open. Deputies conducted a protective sweep of the house and discovered a deceased individual inside with apparent gunshot wounds. The person was later identified as 64-year-old Michael Iliff of Discovery Bay. Sheriff's Office homicide detectives and crime lab personnel responded to the location. They were assisted by the Antioch Police Department, CHP and other agencies. Investigators later identified Williams as the suspect in the murder of Iliff. After being interviewed by detectives, Williams was booked today at about 1 PM into the Martinez Detention Facility on the following charges: one count of murder and ten counts of attempted murder. He is being held in lieu of $11 million bail. Sheriff’s Office detectives are trying to locate Williams’ four-year-old son and the mother of the child, 31-year-old Kimberly Meeks of Discovery Bay. She has links to the Stockton/Sacramento area. Detectives have concerns about their safety. They are traveling in a dark colored Audi SUV with California license plate 8UKN742. National Prescription Drug TAKE BACK Day Saturday, October 24, 2020 The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) would like to invite you to take part in a national effort to keep our communities safe. The DEA and the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff hold Take Back Days aimed to provide a safe, convenient, and ecologically responsible method of prescription medication disposal while also focusing on prevention and education.... Suspect Arrested for Attempted Murder of a Peace Officer UPDATE: Earlier in the week Sheriff's Office detectives presented the case to the District Attorney's Office. The D.A.'s Office filed three counts of attempted murder of a peace officer against 25-year-old Eduardo Carrillo of Stockton. He remains in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility. His bail has been increased to $3 million. ... ORIGINAL PRESS RELEASE On Sunday afternoon at about 2 PM, an unknown person entered the Blackhawk Police Substation in the Blackhawk community and contacted a deputy sheriff there. The subject displayed erratic behavior and was asked to leave the community. Due to the subject contact, Danville police responded to the substation to assist the deputy. As the man was leaving in his car, he accelerated his vehicle rapidly and deliberately attempted to run down the officers and deputy. The suspect’s vehicle struck the deputy and a Danville officer. Both fell to the ground. A Danville Police Sergeant discharged his firearm, striking the vehicle, but not the suspect. The suspect vehicle fled. The suspect and his vehicle were located about a mile away by responding deputies. He was apprehended after a struggle with deputies. The deputy who was hit by the vehicle was treated and released from a local hospital. The officer was treated at the scene by paramedics. The suspect has been identified as 25-year-old Eduardo Carrillo of Stockton. After being interviewed by detectives, he was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on three counts of attempted murder of a peace officer and a probation violation. Investigation into In Custody Death at West County Detention Facility On Saturday, October 17, 2020, at about 6:15 PM, a deputy sheriff escorted a Mental Health Clinician to speak with an inmate at the West County Detention Facility in Richmond. As the deputy opened the door to the inmate’s cell, she found him unresponsive with a bed sheet wrapped around his neck. Deputies and jail medical staff provided life saving measures until an ambulance and the fire department arriv...ed. The inmate was later pronounced deceased at the scene. The inmate is identified as 42-year-old Gregory Lynds of Antioch. He was originally arrested by the Antioch Police Department and was booked into jail on October 2, 2020. He was being held on two felony counts of elder abuse (likely to produce great bodily harm or death), two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon, parole violation, and battery on a peace officer. The investigation into the apparent suicide is being investigated by the Contra Costa District Attorney's Office and Contra Costa Sheriff's Office. The investigation is ongoing.
