The World Singles Tournament has been moved back from May to August of 2021. The new dates are August 12-15 at Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Be Aware! Prepare for... the rare air!!! Denver is the mile-high city with different dynamics due to the altitude. 10 facts to consider to increase your fun at World singles and doubles in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, suburb of Denver. 1. Your body will dehydrate faster. You must drink fluids. 2. Your body will dehydrate faster. You must avoid alcohol because it will dehydrate you! 3. The ball racquetball travels faster so everyone is a power player, or could be! 4. Your footwork will become crucial. Practice good footwork! 5. Conditioning will be a factor. The experts know that science says you need weeks to acclimate to altitude. Therefor try to do what professional sports teams try to do. Get there early; like 48 hours early ideally. 6. If you cannot arrive 48 hours early be sure to get plenty of sleep and up your fluid intake as much as possible. 7. Consider this little tidbit of info. Where you receive serve and where you play center court should be adjusted based on altitude. 8. Ceiling balls can be useless at top levels of play. Strive to adjust the spot on the ceiling you hit-move it back toward the back wall. 9. Consider a high carbohydrate diet with low salt and add iron. Studies have shown this type of diet to be effective at high altitude. 10. The one thing altitude does not affect is fun playing competitive racquetball! Dr Jim Hiser has never run a bad tournament so see you all in Colorado. BTW https://buff.ly/3g26zyh is a proud sponsor of World singles and doubles at Highlands Ranch! See more

Coaching geezer ball demands a few skill sets. Now that I am in the "Golden age" category I can appreciate my fellow warriors and warriorettes who compete in th...e age divisions. My first task when coaching senior athletes is to decide what needs changing and what does not. To simply tear down someone's game and rebuild it demands commitment from the athlete and hard work on the coach's part. I avoid changing someone as much as possible but if the goals are not compatible with the skillset, change is inevitable for success. Here are some things I observe watching and coaching the best senior players. Most players fall loosely into one of the below categories: 1. Many players do not work at their game. There are exceptions but for the most part #1s get a good workout, not the first place prize! 2. The second class would be those who practice and play. These players sometimes squeak out victories and are very talented as are the 1s mentioned above. It goes to reason since they practice they would be more consistent. 3. The third class would be those who play, practice, and train off court for excellence. These players are smart, and fit. These players are in the finals and multi-time national champions. Now admittedly there are some exceptional athletes who can violate the rules above and win. They are rare and in some cases do "playing" lessons so they are constantly on the court. Now take 1-3 and take it out of senior racquetball and put it into all of racquetball. The same rules apply. So coaching the senior players is almost like coaching any player. I say almost because these folks have been around the block a few times and not impressed with coaching unless you show them. You had better know your stuff because you will not put one over on this group of players. See more

RACQUETBALL CONFIRMED AS A FULL MEDAL SPORT FOR THE 2023 XIX PAN AMERICAN GAMES On December 15, 2020, at the LVIII General Assembly of the Panam Sports O...rganization, Racquetball was confirmed as a full medal sport to be competed at the 2023 XIX Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile. This is excellent news for Racquetball and for all of the athletes who will strive to qualify to compete for their countries at the Games. In an agreement between the Panam Sports Organization, the Santiago Organizing Committee, the International Racquetball Federation (IRF), and the Pan American Racquetball Confederation (PARC), four new Racquetball courts will be built in the National Racquet Center along with four new Squash courts. This Center and its courts will remain as a legacy to Santiago after the Games conclude in 2023. Racquetball has been part of all but one Pan American Games since the 1995 Games in Mar del Plata, Argentina. Score more points by changing eye level! I am a baseball fan and love watching the games that go on with pitchers and hitters. The pitcher is constantly changin...g the location of pitches and creating confusion on the part of the hitter. So much confusion, the hitter fails at least 70% of the time! We can do the same with serves! We can change the height in racquetball also! Some coaches like to tell their athletes to lob or lob z on first serve. That to me is a waste of an offensive opportunity. I would rather have my athletes attack with a good drive serve. Then, if they fail and the serve is short or long, they can change the eye level with the next serve and slow the tempo of the game down. When changing the trajectory you are changing the eye level for the opponent viewing the serve! This causes mistakes; remember all the server needs is a return left up or a skipped return. See more

Well? as we would have it and they threatened, L.A.Parks & Recreation officials, locked down the La Mirada Regional Park racquetball courts today by the installation of a gated fence. Ironically, at a time when many venues and even indoor courts are reopening under safer guidelines, these guys chose the easy way out by closing them. A total disregard for its users well being in strengthening the immune system and mental health, while we were addressing their lack of cleaning... maintenance and negligence of the area. Coincidence? I think not! #LAcntyparksrecreation for ever you'll be on my shit list. Damn beaurocrats!
