Each year the Los Angeles Police Foundation has an annual gala to raise funds. These donations help purchase much needed equipment for soecialized units and training. Today the event was held at the Davis Training Center. Static displays were spread about along the EVOC course for attendees to view in a drive by style event. This is the first event this year that VLAC has done since Covid started.

The importance of keeping history alive cannot be overstated. The Los Angeles Police Museum has been closed for 6 months now. They rely heavily on attendance and tours. In absence of those funds, an auction has been organized to help keep the doors open. Please follow the Historical Society page to assist us in supporting them.

Covid-19 boredom has set in. Recently, an astute VLAC member did some math and figured out that in 1988, Hodges from the movie Colors had 19 years in. That would mean he could have been classmates with Jim Reed of Adam-12 when the pilot episode was filmed in 1967. Both were real vintage LA coppers!

The annual Hollywood Film Noir event is a week long festival at the famed Egyptian Theater. Vintage LA Coppers have been a feature of the opening night for the last six years. Bringing life to the black and white crime drama of the dark B movie genre. A WWII event that commemorates Los Angeles’ history every year. We expanded our outreach with an informative Air Raid Warden display this year. Did you know that in addition to preserving the history of LAPD at various public events, VLAC members also provide technical filming advice for any production? VLAC has been involved in several features and as a non-profit (501.c3) are able to do so beneficially to the production. Our website further explains our expertise and availability. www.vintagelacoppers.org
