Neurological injuries and diseases were once looked at as diagnoses that were "managed" rather than making an attempt to "recover". Now days, working toward recovery is a more accepted idea, however, many times it is limited to a short window after the diagnosis. For 20 years we have been using Developmental Position Activities/Developmental Movement Patterns in our Activity Based Therapy program on the theory that we may be able to get the brain to tap into its "developmental" stage that is used during childhood to learn how to sit/stand/walk. New research out of UCSD shows that the brain does have the ability to revert back to this stage after injury.

A group of 13 people with different types of conditions that will go through a 5 month intensive program of activity based training with certified trainers. On Nov. 9, 2017, Kenton was in Raqqa, training local soldiers to disarm bombs planted by Islamic State fighters a month earlier, when they fled a U.S.-led military coalition reclaiming the city. His team went into a hospital and defused a half-dozen IEDs in the courtyard, in the basement and on the first floor.
