Vaksman Fencing Club

Vaksman Fencing Club was organized by Michael Vaksman, a Ukrainian Champion, in 1991. Upon arrival to Seattle, Mr. Vaksman made his presence recognized by winning Washington State at UW, and taking 4th place in team US Nationals. When he advertised for free fencing lessons to anyone who would be able to get one point in a bout from Michael at the Seattle University Connolly Center, hundreds of people responded to the challenge. Although it turned out to be a long day for Michael, he went home undefeated and with a very sizable group of students. Subsequently, he taught at the Connolly Center, as well as at the Bellevue Community College, Bainbridge Island Parks and Recreations, not to mention his private lessons at his studio.
