*** UEI Instructor Highlight: Sue Delgado, Medical Assisting *** Meet Medical Assistant Instructor, Sue Delgado! She grew up in Lincoln Heights and has now worked in the field for about 24 years. She has been teaching at the college level for almost a year, but she has spent considerable time teaching and mentoring colleagues in the field. Sue shared with us one of her most fulfilling moments teaching: The most fulfilling moment was when one of my student told me if it was...n't for my encouragement and just being there for her she would have quit. She is now on her last mod and about to enter her career. I love that I could be that voice that can guide a student to their future. Some of her favorites: Ms. Delgado enjoys music and meditation, and her favorite food is sushi. Her favorite book is The Secret and her favorite movie is The Nightmare Before Christmas. *** UEI Instructor Highlight: Angela Abernathy, Dental Assisting *** Meet Dental Assistant Instructor, Angela Abernathy! She grew up in Los Angeles and has over 40 years experience in the field of dentistry. She graduated from Los Angeles City College and then took the Registered Dental Assisting Licensing test to become an RDA. Ms. Abernathy has 15 years experience in pedodontics and 17 years in general dentistry, both front and back office. She joined the instructor t...eam at UEI Gardena one and a half years ago. When asked what made her want to teach, she shared this: I decided I wanted to teach because I felt it would be a way to contribute to someone's life. My motivation is when I see how students get excited when learning and to watch them transform into a professional with high expectations and soar into life with a positive attitude. Then, when they come and visit after attaining a position office... what joy that brings me. Some of her favorites: Ms. Abernathy’s favorite food is blackened salmon. Currently, her favorite book is "THE COLOR OF WATER" by James Mc Bride. Her favorite movie is "God's not Dead." Her favorite quote is "To whom much is given much is required" (Luke 12:48).
