Our new research brief with UCLA Latino Policy & Politics Initiative finds that vaccination rates among Latinos in New York City (NYC) are less than 3/5 that of whites even though Latinos are 1.4x more likely to be infected & almost 2x as likely to be hospitalized & die from #COVID19. Neighborhoods with more Latino residents (Bronx + parts of Queens, Brooklyn, & Staten Island) have high death rates, yet low vaccination rates. Meanwhile neighborhoods in or near Manhattan, which tend to be whiter, have relatively lower death rates & high vaccination rates.
