Four Turlock Firefighters are staffing this engine and have been working over the past few days to extinguish remain hot spots and remove unneeded hose from the fireline. The crew even got a visit from a therapy dog. Turlock Fire also has an Engineer deployed to the #CreekFire as a Fireline EMT. ... ***PRESS RELEASE*** Residential Structure Fire on 9-23-2020 Turlock Fire Department responded to the report of a working structure fire on the 400 block of Julian Street at approximately 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.... Crews arrived to find smoke and flames issuing from the single-story residence. The first arriving engine made immediate contact with the residents standing outside, confirming everyone was out of the house. At that time, it was determined the family’s three dogs were missing and were presumed to still be inside the structure. Two Turlock Fire crews were assigned to interior fire attack while Squad 32 personnel was assigned to ventilation. A fourth engine company was assigned to rescue and firefighter safety. One of the family’s dogs was located but did not survive the fire. Animal control was contacted and arrived shortly thereafter to retrieve the pet. The other two dogs were not located while crews were on scene. A total of ten residents were misplaced and one was treated by AMR for smoke inhalation. American Red Cross was contacted to assist the residents of the home and to address any immediate needs. Turlock Fire Department responded with 15 personnel including Engine 31, Engine 33, Engine 34, Squad 32, Fire 11, Chief 3, and BAT4. In accordance with the mutual aid agreement, Ceres Fire responded with BAT3 and Engine 15, totaling four personnel. Turlock Police Department provided traffic control while AMR provided patient care. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
