Attention Reid-Hillview Airport is under threat. The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors are meeting on Tuesday, November 17 to discuss "alternate uses" for Reid-Hillivew Airport property. The close the airport folks have been working hard to sway public opinion their way. They have been sharing misleading information with live and print news media outlets leading up to the meeting. If you want to continue to fly at Reid-Hillview Airport you need to take action. It i...s important that all pilots and other airport supporters step up and make their voices heard by the Board of Supervisors! Join the Zoom meeting on Tuesday at 5:30 PM using the link below. Submit your name and email address, and when they ask for comments raise your hand to speak. You will have 2 minutes to state your case for why Reid-Hillview Airport should continue to operate as an airport. The message needs to be that the airport provides a valuable service for the greater community. It is home to multiple busy flight schools teaching future pilot how to fly. It is the base of operations for multiple emergency services and public service organizations. It is NOT a playground for a privileged few. https://sccgov-org.zoom.us/j/92433466438

Why Are We Having This Meeting? Recently, Reid-Hillview Airport played an integral role in the containment of the SCU Lightning Complex Fire, which burned almost 400,000 acres in Santa Clara County. This fire and others like it are re-energizing the community conversation about why Reid-Hillview Airport should NOT close. The report created by the 'Reid-Hillview Vision Plan' development team shows the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors alternate uses of the 180 acres pres...ently utilized by Reid Hillview Airport on the east side of San Jose. When this report was first introduced in a community meeting, there was widespread criticism about the one-sided nature of the report. Now is our chance to educate and inform the development team of all the benefits to keeping and exploring a co-existence with the airport. The 'Reid-Hillview Vision Plan' Development Team will be presenting their "findings" to the board of supervisors in November. The Board of Supervisors have been very persistent in their belief that they are not trying to close Reid-Hillview Airport, but the current report does NOT include an airport after 2031! If you haven't had a chance to look at the report, here is the link to the ‘Reid-Hillview Vision Plan': https://www.sccgov.org//Reid%20Hillview%20Vision%20Plan%20

Protect Your Freedom To Fly Share your thoughts and ideas with the 'Reid-Hillview Vision Plan' Development Team. This meeting will give all of us a chance to share an alternate view regarding the future use of the airport property. If Reid-Hillview were to close, there will not be another local airport built to serve the community. An important resource will be lost forever. Come to this meeting and bring your ideas for supporting the airport. If you are unable to make it to ...this meeting, feel free to email your comments and ideas to us at [email protected]. We will share them with the development team. Click on the link below to attend the meeting with the 'Reid-Hillview Vision Plan' development team via ZOOM on Thursday, October 15, 6:30 8:00 PM. Please be aware of a TFR that has been issue for protection of firefighting efforts east of San Jose from the surface up to 5,000 ft. The TFR is in effect today through October 20, 2020. The complete TFR can be found here: https://tfr.faa.gov/save_pages/detail_0_5458.html The perimeter of the TFR will likely change as the fire evolves so make sure to check for updates prior to any flights.
