On 02/18/2021 a resident of Mammoth Lakes was behind his house on a golf course playing with his kids. From a distance away, a golden retriever came bounding through the snow. The dog’s demeanor was overly friendly. When the dog came upon the kids, it excitedly jumped all over his 3-year-old daughter cutting her lip and chin in the process. The dog’s owner said he was surprised to see people because he walks his dogs there all the time and has never seen anyone. He was advised that dogs need to be on a leash whenever they are off his property in the town of Mammoth Lakes.

The good people at Sierra Trash Eliminators run off the motto, Let’s pick up what they left behind. We don’t believe they were thinking about dogs when they wrote this. We all love to blame visitors for our litter woes, however these pictures were not taken at tourist hot spots. Dear reader, we know it’s not you, but this is the work of some of our neighbors. If someone is not responsible enough to pick up their dog’s poop AND dispose of it properly, are they responsible enough to walk their dog off leash?
