The Kings of Weightlifting 21.01.2021

A couple days ago I celebrated twenty four years of competing in Olympic Weightlifting, today I’m celebrating MY BIRTHDAY and in two days I will celebrate t...he 3 year anniversary of the opening of @thekingsofweightlifting . Today is the last day to sign up for the golf tournament on January 16th in Pasadena, CA. I would to thank everyone throughout the decades for the support in allowing me to chase many dreams and live my true purpose. Thank you to those that have joined me in fighting for justice who have allowed their @usa_weightlifting memberships to expire and that have called for mass resignations for the abuse USAW as a whole allowed to happen to their athletes.

Top athletes in the country are asking that the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) to go along with the sports they oversee be held accounta...ble. Simone Biles who is the face of the Olympic movement cannot even get the organization to conduct an independent investigation into the abuse that happened in gymnastics. Due to what I believe is a system of abuse, exploitation and discrimination that suppresses and locks athletes into a confidential internal process established by the USOPC it is hard for athletes to get their stories out there but even with that being said athletes are fighting back. The USOPC has been hit with a record amount of lawsuits throughout the past few years and it is my understanding that those numbers will continue to rise until that structure is no more. Since 2014 I have been making complaints about USAW’s structure (overseen and approved by the USOPC). I feel that if my issues were allowed to even go on record and be investigated by the judicial or ethics committee for USAW they would have had to make changes with so many complaints stacking up. Since I have gone public I have not heard from any USAW board members or athlete reps to get a better understanding of the situation or to offer support. The only way we can stop this system is to have a collective bargaining agreement and an union for Olympic athletes. Meet me in Atlanta on December 4, 2020 for the protest and shutdown of the American Open/National Championships and they will all hear us loud and clear! See more
