During the fall and winter months, it is important to prevent street flooding. Water flows along curbs and gutters to the storm drains and the Public Works Department works hard to clean the gutter and keep storm drains clear. To do this, the Public Works Department does both street sweeping and removal of debris from the storm drains, but needs the help of thepublic to ensure that flooding does not occur. To assist the Public Works Department, the City is asking citizens n...ot to rake, blow or pile leaves into the street or gutter, but place the leaves and small branches into green waste containers. By assisting the City with this simple step, the citizens would help to keep our storm drains clean and that will avoid clogging our storm drain system during the rainy season.
