We lost another Southern California swing legend. Via Bobby White: It's with sad news we announce Irene Thomas, one of the greatest Southern California jitterbugs, has passed away. Here's a write-up over at Swungover: https://swungover.wordpress.com//r-i-p-irene-thomas-1921-/... On a personal note, she is one of my favorites of all time, and I especially connected so much with her sense of humor and spirit. I will miss her greatly and will always keep her inspiration in my dancing.
Via Bobby White: Sad news -- original Pure Balboa legend Izzy Hignett has passed away. Thankfully she lived a long, fulfilled life (98 years old). Don't know much about her? Check out the post:

It is with deep regret to announce that the Legendary Norma Miller, known as the Queen of Swing, passed away at 7.31am this morning, 5th May at her home in Fort... Myers, Florida, USA. Her last 24 hours, was really happy spent with family, friends Chazz Young, his daughter and close friends from the UK and Italy, sharing fond memories, swing dancing, singing and doing the Shim Sham. She was slippping away surrounded by a family member and friends, at her bedside, listening to Stardust, then took her last breath as Jumpin at the Woodside commenced. Norma Miller, will be missed by dancers and jazz musicians around the globe, but will be remembered by her legacy of being one of the most hard working women, with a positive attitude and outstanding human qualities. Arrangements for Norma are pending and all information will be posted on this Norma Miller FB page in due course.
