By now, some of you may have noticed the extra PPE precautions our firefighters have taken on EMS calls. Please do not be alarmed. These measures allow us to protect our community and our firefighters from COVID-19. In effort to limit the spread of COVID-19 (hNovel Corona Virus) as well as maintaining the safety of our community and fire personnel, Thornton Fire Department has decided to suspend the following: -Fire Station Tours -School Presentations -Apparatus Displays -Ride-Alongs... All department facilities are to be used by fire personnel only. These changes take effect immediately and will remain so until further notice. Thornton Fire recently received a donation of much needed N95 masks. The Trinchero Family Estates recently donated a box of N-95s to Thornton Fire in wake of a National shortage of masks. We are grateful for the donation; these masks will allow us to protect our firefighters and patients during this pandemic.

We are saddened and send our deepest condolences to Porterville Fire Department.

***Update Roadway is no longer blocked*** ***TRAFFIC ADVISEMENT***At approximately 10:22 Thornton Fire District responded to a reported vehicle roll over on Thornton rd just North of Peltier. Once on scene crews found a tractor trailer rolled over in a ditch. The patient was treated and transport for minor injuries to an area hospital. Thornton Rd from Northbound Peltier to Beaver Slough is currently blocked as CHP and maintenance crews work the area.

TRAFFIC ADVISEMENT

Thornton Fire District and Thornton Firefighters are saddened to hear the lost of San Joaquin County Deputy Sergeant Cesar Fuentes. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Last night at approximately 11:05 Thornton Fire District responded to a multi-vehicle accident on northbound I5 just south of the Peltier Rd. exit. Upon arrival units found two vehicles rolled over with two patients ejected and one pinned in. With mutual aid provided by Woodbridge Fire District, firefighters were able to stabilize and rescue the patient from the vehicle. All patients were transported to a local area hospital.

Congratulations to one of Thornton Fires own, Joseph Santos on making it through a grueling fire academy with CAL FIRE Training Academy! We would like to congratulate you and your family on a successful 5 years in the service with many more to come. Make us proud!

Tonight is #NationalNightOut in Thornton, CA and your Thornton Firefighters are here with CHP Stockton and San Joaquin County Sheriff's spending time with all the locals! National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes public safety and police relations. Everybody come on out and enjoy an icee or hotdog with your public safety officers!

The kindergartners are at Station 17 today, hangin' out with the on-duty crew! They're learning how the gear is put on, what's inside our fire engines and what number to call for an emergency. Have a great summer everyone!
