The weapons racks from Barracks No. 1 received a fresh coat of Prussian Blue paint this past week. This blue is authentic to the time period when dragoons were stationed at Fort Tejon on the frontier of the American West. These before and after photos show what a difference a coat of paint can make. #FortTejonSHP #castateparks #prussianblue

A BLAST FROM THE PAST: Here are some images of a visit by a U.S. history class from Antelope Valley High School in the 1950s to Fort Tejon State Historic Park. They were contributed by Lenor de Cruz and she says that they were taken in 1954. You can see her father, Miguel P. de Cruz, speaking to the class as the class instructor at the Peter Lebeck grave. Note the officer’s quarters being rebuilt on the original foundation at the time of the visit, as well as the relatively newly placed adobe buttresses on the orderlies’ quarters to stabilize the structure. Thanks Lenor! #CAStateParks #FortTejonSHP
MAINTAINING PARK INFRASTRUCTURE: Park interpretive staff tending to the annual waterproofing of the wooden historic buildings while the weather is warm with an application of the old fashioned recipe of boiled linseed oil after a good power washing. #FortTejonSHP #CAStateParks

A DONATION CONTRIBUTES TO FORT TEJON’S LIVING HISTORY EFFORTS: Just this last year Fort Tejon State Historic Park received a very kind donation from Eric Roy Anderson of Pinon Pines. He donated a 165 lb. anvil for use in the fort’s blacksmith shop, now rounding the shop out to four working stations/anvils around the forge. These types of anvils tend to be expensive to acquire in such a good condition. This steel beast will likely contribute to thousands and thousands of living history experiences and souvenirs in its new home at Ol’ Fort Tejon for generations to come. On behalf of many, thanks again Eric! #FortTejonSHP #CAStateParks #blacksmithing
