Today is World Stroke Awareness day, a day to bring global awareness on the importance of stroke prevention, recognition and treatment! Did you know there is a new acronym to help remember the signs of stroke that often get missed? We want you to B.E.F.A.S.T! B: BALANCE Is the person experience a sudden loss of balance or coordination? E: EYESIGHT Is the person having a sudden change in vision or trouble seeing? F: FACE Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face... droop? A: ARM Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward? S: Speech Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is their speech slurred or strange? T: Time If you observe any of these signs, call 911 immediately. See more

#HealthTipTuesday from Dan Ford, Pharmacy clinical practice manager: Try to avoid exposure to COVID-19 by doing all the things you are supposed to do (hand hygiene, social distancing and masking appropriately), especially with the coming flu season. If, despite precautions, you get exposed, are concerned or have symptoms, contact your health care provider over the phone so they can guide you on where to get tests and treat you accordingly. If you are positive, monitor your br...eathing and if you are struggling to breathe, come to the ER and let them know what’s happening. If you do end up hospitalized, you can feel confident that NorthBay has all of the treatments that are talked about by the media and the CDC and FDA: Remdesivir, convalescent plasma and Dexamethasone, all of which we have had a lot of success with in taking care of COVID patients.
